It's called reality. Even with this, he won't come within half of the corporate megabucks Romney will pull in.

Are you surprised? President flip flop did the same thing when running against McCain. He swore up and down that he'd only use public funds for his campaign, McCain agreed, and then Obama turned McCain around and kicked him in the butt by reneging.

Then again, some here made the point that Obama could not be trusted on little things, let alone big things but most here swallowed the lie and look foolish now. Corruption reigns supreme and most here can only rationalize it rather than rebuke it. Sad.

Narcissists and absolutists see it as all this, or all that. Of course, nothing in the affairs of man is an absolute, other than death and taxes. Is Obama a great president? No. Does he represent the ideas of the Left? Only marginally. Is he better than McCain would have been? No doubt. Is he better than Romney would be? Without a doubt. Some people think that selling out to the corporate masters at 40% is the same thing as selling out at 100%. I don't (although both are distasteful).

Obama's vision of the world takes into consideration the people's best interests, at least to some extent. And though he is an infuriating incrementalist, at least those increments are in the right direction. With Romney, good luck. He's spent his life in limos. Like Bush, he's interested in the welfare of his "base"; The already extremely wealthy.

This country made a huge error when we allowed the Right to come in with their radical ideology and take down a tax and regulatory system that was forged in the fires of war and depression. Now we're paying for it. Obama, and the Dems (for the most part) agree that it was an idiotic error and that we need to backstep. Hell, even a former head of Citibank was on Charlie Rose the other day agreeing that we ****ed up big time and should reactivate Glass/Steagle. Meanwhile, Romney, and the Repugs, want to double down on the policies that destroyed us.

It does depend who you put at the wheel. One can take you in the right direction, if very slowly (or at least hold you in place), and the other can take you over a cliff. Those are different destinations.

That's sad but true for anybody to make it to the top in today's politics. Just remember that when any of these politicians not named Ron Paul says one thing, they'll do the opposite by putting "reality" ahead of their own principles.

When asked about the debt ceiling, and how raising it under Bush he called unconstitutional and unamerican. Those were his thoughts on it when he voted no. Now he says when he was Senator he failed to take into account what is best for the country, and was thinking like a Senator not a President. He's a flat out liar.

The truth is Obama is a self serving twad that will do whatever is best for his liberal agenda. But.....he will even sell out that agenda when it suits his personal needs.

There hasn't been a liberal in the WH for over thirty years. The majority of Americans wouldn't even know what a liberal looks like, other than the boogeyman that Fox keeps them peeing their pants over like a bunch of little chicken ****s.

You can agree though that its funny he went from it's un-American to please raise the debt ceiling....then said well when i was a Senator I didn't think about what was best for the country? cmon. But I agree with you to a point. He will sell out his liberal beliefs like most liberals today do. The problem is they can't get elected if they go as liberal as they would like.

Same with the repubs. They wish they could outlaw immigration, make abortion illegal etc, but they can't get elected on that so they often waiver.

We get left with a bunch of politicians with no moral center, no predictability on the issues because they will often flip flop and fly!

I have this friend of mine who always goes into conversations like this:

"My liberal side, and my conservative side...."

So, I asked him:

"Which "liberal", which "conservative": Neo, classical, etc etc etc"

He just blinked at me - and continued on with his conversation. There's no MEANING to these words.

For today's Fox News lemming, "liberal" = center right.

I think it's exactly the opposite. I think Romney is going to have a hard time raising the wall street megabucks that Obama is already pulling in.

Either way, campaign finance and election reform is desperately needed.

Without it, it doesn't matter who's in office, the results will be the same.

It's Einstein's rule of insanity.

Did you hear what the Koch Bros announced last week? They've promised $100 million to the defeat of Obama. The Republican candidates side of the money pool is a whole lot deeper than the Dems side.

I doubt that. Go look at the 99% thread where its Dems who have the vast majority of corporate connections, not repubs.

either way, both parties are a joke.

What ignorant nonsense. You seriously believe this? I thought you knew about politics?

Obama stands to raise $1 Billion from Wall Street. I'm amused that you think that the fund raising is so lopsided in the Republicans favor. Why did I ever think you were all that savvy on politics?
