Broncos raise ticket prices for 2012, but only slightly
POSTED: 02/04/2012 01:00:00 AM MST

INDIANAPOLIS óBetween the sagging economy and all those non-playoff seasons, the Broncos didn't feel they could pass on a ticket increase to their fans.

A playoff appearance this season sparked by quarterback Tim Tebow allowed the Broncos to boost their ticket prices for 2012, if only slightly.

The Broncos' average ticket price at Sports Authority Field at Mile High will increase from $98.14 in 2011 to $98.79 in 2012, or 0.6 percent. It's the Broncos' first ticket increase since 2008.

In comparison, the Detroit Lions recently announced a ticket-price increase of 7.9 percent.

"Considering the exciting season we just had, I think a lot of people would not have been surprised if we were aggressive in ticketing, and we weren't," Mac Freeman, who heads the Broncos' business department, said here Friday. "We understand the economic conditions many of our fans are experiencing, and we're pleased that the increase is under 1 percent."

Roughly 45,000 seats will increase $2 to $15. At the same time, approximately 16,000 seats will have a price decrease of between $25 to $30 in the club sections, to $5 in the upper corners of the upper deck.

"We feel good about our value proportion," Freeman said. "We've listened to the fans this year and made pricing decisions based on that feedback data."

While Broncos tickets for a lower sideline seat ($125) in 2012 are considerably less expensive than those in New England ($169), they are more costly than those in Baltimore ($110), Kansas City ($100) and Seattle ($99).

The Broncos generally rank in the 10-to-15 range among the 32 NFL teams in average ticket price.

Mr. B better be willing to spend some money in free agency if they're raising ticket prices. I wonder if he'd be willing to give a refund for the crappy years

Let's see...the stadium holds 76,125 people for football games. The average price went up 65 cents per seat. Factor in 10 home games per season. So that means Bowlen will have an extra (76,125 x $.65 x 10) $494,812.50 to spend this year.

Yeah, a half million bucks, that'll sign some real top-quality FA's!

What is the average when you take out the decreased price for club seats? Those were so overly inflated and was routinely shown as no where near full capacity. The increase is hitting the Average Joe in the pocket book. South Stands is $77 FV so I wonder what those prices will now be at for the upcoming season.
