I'm just curious what others would do with this information.
I work in a very small company. There are only 8 of us. There is a person working with a suspended license he is driving a company van. He has 3 DUI (ONE IN THE COMPANY VAN)and is going to court in two mouths . On a side note we do the same job I have been here 9 mouths and am only working 3 days a week. I have worked my fingers to the bone to get a head in this company. So, given this info, would you say anything to your boss |

How could the boss not know if the dude had gotten a DUI in the company van?
This bum sounds like a real piece of work. Job? Sounds like he should be in jail. I'm a strong believer in Karma and he will certainly get what's coming to him. Sadly he could kill someone before the police catch up with him again though. If your boss knows this and allows him to drive that's just crazy. One bad move and YOU might not have a job or anyone else in the company for that matter. Last edited by Meck77; 12-19-2011 at 05:51 PM.. |

![]() This last DUI he got was in his own car and the owners of this company don't know yet And they don't know he got a 3rd DUI and suspended license two weeks ago. So he is now driving their company van with a suspended license now. Last edited by ICON; 12-19-2011 at 06:06 PM.. |

Your boss is risking a lot every time that guy gets behind the wheel. It's a tough question whether or not it's a good idea to inform your boss (in today's economy, it could be tough to live with the knowledge that you played a key role in him losing his livelihood)... however, if I were the boss, I'd want to know. |

Pose it as a hypothetical to the boss and see how he reacts. If he's smart he'll get the drift and figure it out. I would imagine any small business owner would want to know rather than see his/her business put at risk by an idiot.

The company would find out nearly right away, unless they just don't account for their vans for weeks at a time, which is highly doubtful. They would likely be hit with about $150 impound fee, at worst. Impound fees are not the worry, But this next part is. ICON: The company/owner of the van can be sued for an accident this guy may get in. Your company could lose everything if this guy were to get in an accident that injured someone in another vehicle, and that person or their family decided to sue. The name on that Van title is fair game in a court of law. I stand firmly against tattling on someone, but in this case ghwk has a pretty good idea. |
