Default OT: Head Transplant??

http://uproxx.com/technology/2015/04...se-than-death/

I think I would rather just die. How much would you feel your head being slowly removed from your body??

Mane Doctors, discuss.

Manning should transplant his head to Tebow's body. The body would retain Tebow's heart, obviously.

This would be great for ugly people and Paul Welker could keep on living.

There is a huge ethical dilemma about raising human bodies/embryos excluding the L1 gene which develops into the mammal head. So basically, you are developing/growing a body campus with no head just to harvest organs.

I don't think I have ever been so excited to see an outcome.

I'm confident he will end up dying. How crazy would it be if he lives?? What would happen if this works?

Hmm...you would think we would come up with a way to cure paraplegics and quadriplegics before we could figure something like this out. I'm not seeing how the head is going to communicate with the new body.

I'd think the nervous system would be a complete wreck.

It would open countless new doors in science. Could it be a way to cheat/postpone death for us ordinary healthy people? Would there be an inventory of preserved bodies and people could purchase at will? Could this be combined with cryonics? All these things are decades away of course, even if this man's surgery is successful.

Does anyone know the date of the procedure?

I remember reading a story years ago about a man in europe who had a hand transplant and after a little while passed, he said something just didn't feel right and I think he said he felt like he didn't have full control over the hand or the hand was starting to do things on it's own. He begged to have the procedure reversed and the original doctor wouldn't do it but eventually he found a doctor who did it for him.
