Default Tebow Seems to Have a Different Take on Broncos Fans than the Last Couple of QB's

"Ultimately, it's why you play the game — to be in big situations. With the awesome fan base behind you, which we'll have on Sunday, it will be a rockin' atmosphere and we'll be very excited as well."

Well Orton will feel the wrath of the fans come Sunday.
Hope Von and Doom bring the pain on that idiot. I remember his remarks
and his total lack of leadership.

that may be fair but it still doesn't mean he liked it... I realize a lot of people on here think Orton's some kind of cretin.... he is a human being and his feelings get hurt just as much as anybody else's do.

but since he's no longer a denver bronco who cares what he thinks about us?

True (and I'm by no means an Orton apologist, if you've read my posts), but this is also the guy who fans lambasted for basically saying his job is to win, not win over fans.

So which is it? Does he try to win and not care what the fans think? Or does he try to win over the fans and then get butthurt when they turn on him for not winning?

Let's be fair, Orton was given some undue criticism prior to the season. Turns out he earned it by going 1-4, but I swear, sometimes this fan base does make me ashamed of it.

Whatever man. Paid well...played like chit and no one hear EVER wanted him here. If he holds us any anonymosity I hope DOOM and VON knock it out of him come Sunday. We deserve better than some average QB with no leadership abilities or heart....period !

As a football player (especially a QB), its part of your job to relate to the fans. This is something that Tebow relishes, but that Orton despised.

I'm with the guy who goes out of his way to make the fans feel involved. The guy who got a paycheck and barely showed up on Sundays, then belittled the fans can go try again somewhere else. He didn't handle it well here.

Denver is the toughest place to play QB since the duke retired. I am hoping that Orton doesn't finish what he started (destroying our chances to make the playoffs) at the beginning of the season.

Totally justified after losing for 2 years then telling the fans you are not playing for them.

This. Dude can't win for losing. Seriously though, get got paid to do a job which is what even he said, and he didn't do it so he was shown the door. Not sure why fans hate him so much. I still think he did what he could with the skillset he possessed so I have no resentment towards him, I just think it was time to try Tim since Kyle had hit his ceiling for what he could do with our team. And if Tim fails to do the job he's paid for, I will also wish him well and then look to a new option at QB.

Orton's problem was he was a known stopgap when he first stepped foot in Denver.

When you trade your starting QB for someone else's QB plus two first rounders, you might as well name that new guy "stopgap"

This compounded when a new 1st round QB (Tebow) was drafted. Then the losing ensued. Put together a preordained stopgap, a 1st rounder on the bench, and lots of losing... fans will start asking to see what the new kid can do, since nobody wants to pay to watch a stopgap lose games.

Most of it isn't Kyle's fault. But he didn't help with his heartless play and who-cares-about-the-fans stuff. Fans expect more than someone who's just cashing a paycheck.

As the Cutler trade went down, he was just thrown in on the trade at the last minute. I thought Orton was given a fair chance in Denver to win over the coaches and fans. Well he proved he was never going to get any better.. never gave me the impression that he could win a big game.

He wanted out.. the Broncos gave him wish.. now he has one last shot to give the Broncos a parting shot.. that is part of the game.

Will we see a Orton that gives the Broncos his best shot.. or the Orton that can't move the ball within the red zone.

don't know about that. there are other tough places to play QB, either because of the fans, the owner, team expectations, or all of the above.

Dallas.
NYJ.
Chicago.
Buffalo.
Miami.
Cleveland.

Huh? Outside the 6-0 start, he was terrible! Always put up big numbers backed up with 2-3 ints with a fumble lost. They always seemed to be at the most crucial parts of games. Like when we looked like we were driving and taking momentum, boom an INT! The dude was boring and played uninspired football..terrible leader! Where have you been the last 3 years?

Never said it wasn't justified..just pointed out that he's human, and sometimes ...even justified criticism makes them angry ...and animosity grows.

In fairness to him, he never said anything about not winning over the fans, until they started trashing him.

I've heard football described as a game of emotion, but never as a game of "feelings".

Denver hurt his feelings. After this Sunday, I'm hoping that his feelings aren't the only thing that hurts!

Worry about Orton's feelings? So I wonder if Tebow's feeling are hurt with some fans not believing in him or even rooting for his failure? Not sure many care.
