Typical Popps response.

If you have any issue with the visual content of this board related to shoulder surfers, I am merely demonstrating that it can be regulated on a personal basis.

And you can put the 'family friendly' label on this board when the mods deal with the homophobic comments, the misogynist comments, and the downright hateful comments.

This forum has problems (as all forums do) - the cleavage from the game thread isn't in my top five, honestly. Start with a troll hunt and at least discourage all the hateful comments. Then we can talk about the lovely ladies and their 'appropriateness'.

These 2 reasons highlighted are what have me questioning whether there are really mods on this site.

I'll take boobs over some of the stuff i've actually read/seen posted here.

Again - wow, on the boob witchhunt while letting all the other crap slide.

I've offered Taco my services. The upside is, I would mod.

The downside (?) is that we'd have the user-base pared down to about 50-100 people within a few days. So, depending on how you look at that...

I'd like to know how you explain to a kid the 'sand in the vagina' comments or the 'wow, that is so gay' comments or the 'are you on the rag?' comments?

I'm not sure how any of the above is 'family friendly' (to use your term)

To say nothing of implied physical threats, ridiculing another's faith, etc. Stuff that happens on a daily basis.

Without hand-holding all day long, it seems to me that they do try to draw lines with that kind of stuff. I've seen people banned for those kinds of things.

The other issue is, someone can't walk up behind you at work and necessarily tell what you're reading about in one glance. Whereas, with images... it can easily be seen by the wrong eyes.

Honestly, anyone who doesn't get this is either just not very bright or being purposely obtuse.

Luckily, Taco's a smart enough dude to take care of it properly.

That's nothing. It's not like you had to explain why you were looking at shirtless pictures of Rev humping an inflatable lobster, up on your 100 inch wall screen when your in laws walked in.

Sorry Popps, I don't see a downside at this stage of the O-mane. This site is in DIRE need of active Moderators.

Not meant to be a slight at the current mods? But the fact is, the invisibility of these "mods" are what caused me to believe we didn't even have any!

I'm not sure what part of 'if you are worried about the images, turn them off' you are missing here...

The cleavage on this board isn't any more severe than that seen at the game (and such activity is encouraged).

The comments I see on this board would get you thrown out of an NFL game.

The hateful comments ARE a problem. However...Pictures, by definition, are visual. Kids (and co-workers) would see the near-nekkid women before reading the comments. That's the point...

This is a free site and the mods are volunteers. Part time volunteers. I have better things to do than to spend all day patroling threads in search of violations.

If you guys are offended by something, all you have to do is to report the post, and, when we get a chance, we'll take a look at it and decide what to do.

If that's not good enough, then just leave and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Again, a kid can't glance over from 5' away and decipher the tone of several sentences.

One can EASILY glance over to see softcore porn images on a screen and come away with questions.

See the difference? Tiny words on a tiny screen from a long distance.... and giant porn images.

I mean, you either understand that or you're a complete idiot. I doubt it's the latter... so just stop.

The comments i've read, along with the misuse of thread creating ability (repeatedly) would just net you a lifetime ban on our forums.

We ARE family oriented and we have password protected "adult" themed sections where 'boob' pictures and other NSFW stuff is posted. Maybe that can be implemented here?

That way you can't have people cry about boobs - it's your option to go into that section. Violators outside of that section get a long vacation.

It really is - AS SIMPLE AS THAT.

And for the 5th time.... any non-impaired adult brain knows why an image presents a more harmful (potential) consequence to a young mind or a co-worker than small, difficult to read from a distance text. You can't possibly be unable to understand this, so I'll assume you just like to argue at this point.

Should we fix hate-talk here? Sure, I've always said families are off-limits.

Beyond that... is a simple/black-white issue and it's been solved.

Again, I'm not sure what you are missing here. Parents are responsible for what their kid sees - so they change the channel. If you are worried about what your children see (and I give you props for doing so) then you should turn off the pictures and the avatars. I didn't see anything on the NE gameday thread that was 'more offensive' than the avatars we see every day.

Well, we just started our 2008 season of week 15 (13th game) all over again. Couldn't wait until after the season TJ? Now we are going to see the Chargers take the division. Don't tempt fate.

You really hurt any credibility you have with the needless insults and ad hominem. I said, in my first or second post 'it's Taco's world'. It just amazes me that the hateful comments are fine but a chick in a bikini is 'offensive'.

It's a privately owned forum and I certainly do not dispute Isaac's right to impose whatever rules he chooses. (quite the opposite)

Be careful what you wish for with asking for more mods.

On the other site I made fun of some kid's jorts and got banned because of it.
