Default Scenarios to win the West

If we beat KC we win the division no matter what. That would put us at 9-7 at worst and we would have the tiebreakers over both Oakland and SD.

If we beat Buffalo and lose to KC the only way we don't win the division is if Oakland wins their last two games

Oh for sure. I would much rather have that then a home game against Pittsburgh or Baltimore...problem is for that to happen we need help whereas winning the division is in our hands.

If we beat Buffalo the only way we don't make the playoffs as a wild card or division winner is if Oakland (@KC, vs. SD) and the Jets (vs. NYG, @ Mia) both go 2-0

i'd rather the broncos beat steelers at home then go to foxborough and beat the patriots then beat the ravens in the afc championship.

Ok, so here is a reasonable wildcard scenario. (assuming the chargers beat Baltimore)

http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/mach...~1~320101030~1

Edit: Obviously I wasn't serious, I forgot to sign it.

I'm not saying it's going to happen, I was just posting how we could reasonably end up with the wildcard.

I had a more realistic one than that but it didn't involve Cincinnati losing to AZ. We needed to win one of our 2 remaining games though

There we go, slightly different and we still get the wildcard.

Disclaimer: This is not what I think will happen, just a realistic possibility.

If we win one game the Chargers can't catch us so unless we thought we were getting in at 8-8 they don't matter

Does "win out" imply something other than that?

Yes, it means win both games. I'm saying if we beat KC nothing else matters

...yet we have Buffalo before we play KC...I'd rather win both then lose in Buff and need a win vs KC.

So would I, you're right. I'm just saying we can lose to Buffalo and still control our destiny
