Default Tebow the Passer

Tim Tebow should be quietly quieting his critics about his ability to throw the ball with the games he has played the last two weeks. Let's begin with some numbers.

Last week: 9/18 143 Yds 7.9 Avg 1Td 0 Int 95.4 Rating
This week: 10/15 202 Yds 13.5 Avg 2 TD 0 Int 149.3 Rating

Those are some pretty good numbers for Tebow, especially when you factor in the drops which have become near chronic of late. But let's look a little closer.

Den vs. SD

1st Quarter:
0/3 0 Yds
2nd Quarter
3/5 45 Yds
3rd Quarter
2/3 12 Yds*
4th Quarter
3/5 76 Yds*
OT*
1/3 11 Yds

*5 of 6 completions from the shotgun

Den vs Min

1st Quarter
1/2 7 Yds*
2nd Quarter
3/4 22 Yds*
3rd Quarter
3/4 79 Yds*
4th Quarter
3/5 94 Yds*

*14 of 15 passes from the Shotgun

Tebow only gets better as the game progresses and if you take away the first Quarter today, he averaged 65 Yds a Quarter. That puts him at 260 yards if Magahee gets out of the end zone in the first quarter.

Denver runs so often out of the shotgun that often teams are keying on the run, which is the exact opposite of what you would look for. So what do you do if you are an opposing defense? You stack the box anyway. That was the plan the last two weeks for both Minnesota and San Diego who put eight in the box and dared Tebow to beat them with his arm.

He did.

Quite the difference so far from a kid that just over a month ago was coming off a 18/39 172 Yds 1TD and 1Int performance against the Lions in which nearly every talking head in the NFL (Stay strong Skip Bayless!) thought they had witnessed the end of the Tebow Era.

The biggest difference might not be in the numbers. It actually lies in that unquantifiable realm of perception. Tebow just looks like a better thrower. Balls are more accurate, well placed, and where they need to be. The footwork, while still shaky at times, has improved as well.

Next week we see the Chicago Bears who will be looking to do what SD and Minn. did which is to crowd the line, try to take away the run, and make Tebow beat you with his arm. To be honest, I am growing more comfortable with that by the game.

You would have to be blind to not see that Tebow is improving as a passer. Those throws today were pretty sweet.

Other than his first miss on the swing pass, he threw the ball brilliantly today.

There are those that do not want to admit it and will keep saying Tebow can never get better since Tebow makes them uncomfortable and life for them makes more sense if Tebow fails.

This is one that may not have gotten there at the beginning of the year:

The doubters will still be there, after all Minnesota is missing their top three CBs and their top two safeties, and are rated 29th against the pass.

Let's see what the Broncos can do against the Bears and the Pats the next two weeks. Tebow can make all his critics shut up.

His throw to DT for the incompletion that could have won the game was a nice toss, too.

He's seeming more comfortable out there. Reminds me more of how he threw the ball last year.

Watch those videos and listen to the crowd. You would think that Denver just opened a new indoor stadium with how loud the crowd got on Denvers scores.

Like I have been saying since day one... The kid can and will throw the ball. Only the haters and the stupid will continue to argue.
