Default Why isn't KC starting Kyle "Pocket Sloth" Orton?

I don't get it. KC claims Orton off waivers when their season hangs in the balance, and two weeks in they're still not starting him.

Call me "Old School", but this doesn't make any sense.

The only explanation is that: A) it was some kind of desperation move by Todd Haley; and B) the owner and/or GM of the Chiefs is asleep at the wheel.

I think it has more to do with the fact that the Chiefs are pretty much done, and they want to give the other QB a look.

Chances are the Chiefs just brought in Orton with the intent of picking up a compensary draft pick after the season when he signs with another team.

Don't think this is the one you want, but it's still worth a peek:

I know you were joking, but he ALMOST led KC to a win over the Steelers. That probably warrants giving Palko another look...

I think they probably got him into practice and then he played like Kyle Orton.

I read that Dallas also had a claim on him, so Chicago could never have "brought him home". Orton as a pure backup in Dallas makes a lot of sense, but Orton warming the bench in KC doesn't.

A lot of people in KC seem to think it's about Haley giving Pioli the middle finger (two actually).

That and he likes Palko due to his work ethic.

If that's the case, shouldn't they have enshrined him in the Chiefs Hall of Fame?

Brandon Albert has given up 5 sacks and 7 penalties for almost 100 negative yards total.

Okay enough I've had enough of this thread. The real reason he hasn't played yet is that he has only been there for a week and is getting acclimated with their playbook and scheme. You notice how Palmer's interceptions and mistakes have decreased dramatically since the first two weeks? Same logic applies here. I expect to see Orton taking their first teams snaps either this week or next through the rest of the season.

When did they name this weeks starter? I'm not seeing it anywhere.

Except that Orton's mistakes will never decrease based on knowledge of the playbook. He will always play at a below average level.
