I just saw the re-make last night. It's excellent. It might be better than the Swedish version. If you were debating on whether to see it, I highly recommend it.

Will Taco allow this, given the amount of nudity in the movie? It's certainly not "New OMane Friendly".

Glad to hear it. Hollywood usually fubars movies like that. The original was amazing. Did they do "the scene" with as much impact? That was so profoundly disturbing in the original.

Do you mean the rape scene?

I would say yes. In case you're not aware Fincher did this movie. Overall, the movie is more gritty and dark. I'm not sure it's more impactful but its sufficiently so.

IMO, Fincher was the perfect guy to direct this movie. I really hope he's the one who does the rest of them.

I saw all three of the originals and really after the first one, I thought they kind of stunk.

The second 2 were meant to be tv movies. Not surprising

Which one? There were two rape scenes. The original and the revenge. Without giving too much away, the revenge was more disturbing, imo.

I was asking Que which scene he's referring to. Ask him.

Well, spending a lot of money doesnt always guarantee that it will be good.

But that aside, I'd also be interested in knowing how quickly they made the three Swedish versions since they were all released within a year of each other. It seemed like this one included more elements from the book and explained more. I don't want to give too much away. The re-make seemed like it was longer and I'd also say the extra time was put to good use.

I am now finishing the third book and I find the stories good, but not exceptional. I've seen the first of the Swedish films and it is okay, but have not yet watched the others because I wanted to finish the books first. When they went to make the reamke I thought Daniel Craig was very well cast as Mikael. The previews look good and I am glad to hear you liked it. I was iffy on seeing it, but I probably will now

I thought the movie was very well done and very good but very dark. It is very fast paced and definitely didn't feel like 2 1/2 hours plus. But yes, I am a huge Fincher fan.

Must warn though; the aforementioned rape scene is tough to watch. My wife was pretty disturbed by it. Although she did say it was a very good movie and she was glad she went and saw it overall.
