The White House declined Monday to say why no local reporters would be allowed to attend today's event, nor whether the ban on local media was part of a new national policy.

"As per usual, the White House traveling press pool will cover the President's remarks at his Bay Area campaign event and a transcript of his speech will be circulated to local and national media outlets," White House spokesman Adam Abrams wrote in an e-mail response to The Chronicle.

But barring local reporters from presidential events is not usual at all, according to veterans of past White House press operations and longtime Bay Area journalists.

Until recently, The Chronicle and other Bay Area papers including the Oakland Tribune and the San Jose Mercury News regularly served as local pool reporters in their home regions, feeding coverage of events to other media. Local journalists generally know big-monied donors and political players best.

Nicolle Wallace, a former press secretary to Republican President George W. Bush, called the ban "idiotic ... inexplicable on the politics side, let alone the press side."

"For a Democrat to go to San Francisco and not invite the local press is like George W. Bush going to Crawford, Texas" and doing the same, she said.

He's a bad president but he is nothing like Bush although he does have the same destructive policies but so will the next president regardless of who it is unless it were to be Ron Paul but that ain't happening so it's up to the people to fix things, somehow.

Obama is the socialist-leaning version of Bush. Not much difference. Both thought they were above the law, and both initiated politices that removed the rights of the American people.

Except that Obama is also controlled by the social engineering arm of those forces as well...George Soros and the other billionaires who want Americans to be subjugated by international law and its borders to be opened to all comers.

Americans are dangerous to those forces because we can vote to manipulate their monetary engines and ultimately control the strongest military force in the world. We must be put under thumb, or the power transfer will never be fully secure.

Just like any political arena, there are warring factions. Soros wants to destroy the American sense of individuality and turn over more of the global economy to the Chinese.

Soros' "Open Society" institute pushes for the removal of American borders. And he's not the only mega-rich guy who serves that agenda. Many people believe that Soros has bet against the Dollar to collapse the economy here just like he did in Czechloslovakia and Thailand. The guy is seriously dark. He calls himself a god. Better idea: Admit you're a revisionist who ignores the fact that I was one of the people on this forum who pointed out that Obama wasn't all that far to the left of the GOP candidates during the run-up to the '08 election.
