Default That's why you don't get rid of DJ

DJ was just as pivotal to that win as anyone else. We need linebackers who play like him, he is a veteran and has been consistently good for us since drafted. Of course there are a few posters who will still make up reasons we shouldn't have him, but DJ proved 'em wrong today.

The first big play since he's been a Bronco, huzzah.

I like him on the team, but he was supposed to be MUCH better than what he has been.

It's not just the sack, forced fumble and recovery of said fumble. He did a nice job in pass coverage on Reggie Bush during the game as well. Like I said, people won't appreciate him until he's gone. When Joe Mays is covering RB's, you'll see the difference.

I will appreciate him like a mother****er when he's gone. The sooner the better.
I can't wait until this team has a real MLB again.

Earth to HAT: He's not playing MLB.

Your hero almost lost us the game on the coin toss, but keep biatching about guys who actually help the team.

This...the is one of a handful of game changing plays that he's ever made.

A guy from the U makes the defensive play in the clutch. A guy from UF leads the offense.

Everyone in the stadium should have been happy, right?

Williams has been consistent for the Broncos, a veteran team player who has played every linebacker position you can in his career under a slough of different defensive coordinators. Williams deserves to serve out his contract with the Broncos. It is a shame he never got to just stick on the weakside and develop there consistently under the right coaching.

Absolutely not consistent. He regularly misreads plays and guesses wrong.
He's been a problem off the field and was stripped of his captaincy. He's probably gone after this season, outside of a miraculous finish.

The guy made one play today, it was a great play. But, I don't recall him making a game-changing play in his career up to this point. So, let's not create a storyline that doesn't exist. He's a marginal starter who can tackle pretty well and runs well. He's also got big flaws in his game, and yes... he should NEVER, EVER have been moved inside.

Yes, I was happy to see him make a big play. That is something he just has not done much of during his career, so great to see him making a great play in a tight game.

We should seriously consider giving him his captaincy back. You know, for coin tosses.

I saw him getting run over too. Fortunately, when Denver needed a big play, DJ came up huge.

Prater came back and though I admit that I thought he missed his third 3-pt. attempt of the game...I was wrong and he came up big too.

Great TEAM win for the Broncos!!

Now, let's see them improve the play calling so teams just can't bull rush 8-9 or more in the box.

"Misreads plays and guesses wrong"? Sort of redundant, and kind of contradictory to the fact that he is one of our best and year-in-and-year-out, is amongst our team lead in tacles, don't you think? So lets get to the real beef with DJ, which becomes an ad hominem:

I'm not surprised. This is where DJ always gets the most hate. But seriously:

Why would the Broncos create a need on defense? He is due five and six million dollars respectively the next two years. If Williams was a bad linebacker, there could be a case for his release/trade, but there isn't. He knows every linebacker spot on the field and has, contrary to your belief, been a consistent performer for the Broncos. His pressures and pass rushing have improved over the past two years and has been good with stuffs and TFL, despite having a below-average defensive line and switches from WOLB, SAM to WOLB to ILB back to WOLB this year. Denver doesn't have the depth at LB to be getting rid of the biggest veteran on the corps.

I was pleased with his pass coverage today and he laid some good wood in the running game. At the end of the game he was clutch and gave us a chance to win in OT.

I'm not creating a story line. Williams has produced for the Broncos despite numerous position switches and a lack of integrity on the defensive side of the ball.

Go DJ.

Performing in front of his "home" crowd.

I can't grasp the hate DJ gets outside of his drinking problem. Dude has done everything we've asked on the field. He scarified a stable career when he was drafted by us...and still after all the bull**** with DC after DC being fired, new position after new position, he signed on to stay longer.

Stud.
You are comparing it to the fact that it is his replacement, Mays, that will make us wish we had kept DJ. How about we get a guy that is better than DJ so we don't ever think we made a bad choice? Comparing him to Mays doesnt make DJ a surerb player..... or a stud as you want to point out. We need much more of this from him and have not got it since he has been a Bronco. He hasnt been horrible or stud material. He was a guy we hoped would be a standout in a defense that has been pretty bad since he has been here. Not exactly all his fault but it is what it is. His love isnt because he was a Shanny pick and you need a few on D to be good?
