Default Jake Plummers talks about being benched....

remarkably, he admits he may have been ready to quit the year before Cutler was drafted.
Quote:
"I've been where (Orton) is," Plummer said. "And I remember when (Jay) Cutler took over. At that stage for me and nobody knew this at the time but I was done, I was done playing ball. I was ready the year before a little bit. I was considering it then. Had we won the Super Bowl, I would have been like, 'Peace, NFL, I got my childhood dream of a Super Bowl ring, I'm done with you.' You don't want to go out like that, (but) I knew right then I was done."
You can't really blame Shanahan for picking Cutler, he probably read the writing on the wall when Plummer folded it up in the AFCCG. I'm just surprised that Plummer admits he was ready to quit during the middle of a pretty good year that led to an AFCCG. Wow.

Wow...I really liked him and it did look like he just quit on the team when he finally got benched....it was just bizarre when you actually watched that unfold!

The playcalling was bad, and Jake was no game manager. Shanny starts the rook, and got more aggressive. Stupid.

"Peace, NFL"

Oh man I love Jake.

Nice of him to finally take responsibility for that too. Been a long time coming.

Good luck with your handball goals of 2012.

Jake's wrong. Anybody who paid attention in that season where he was benched pretty much knew he had quit.

No Jake...we could tell by the way you played and carried yourself that you were done. Just like Kyle Orton.

Also, is there some kind of mediocre quarterback advocacy association?

Jake said "Peace NFL" when Pat was killed in Afghanistan. That really took his heart out of the game.

Yup I really think the Pat thing and then finding the love of his life made football seem kinda not as important.

Really? Because his best year as a professional came right after his heart was taken out of the game....

You mean the year he just admitted that he had already started thinking about quitting? The year we had 2000 yards rushing and all he had to do was hit wide open receivers on boot legs? Yeah...

Plummer was just being real. Recalling what he really thinks and feels. That is much more than the predictable BS that comes out of players mouths when asked a question. Can't knock the guy for honesty.

I couldn't knock him for it the first three times he did it, but the act is getting a little old now. We get it, Jake--you hate Shanahan, you hate Broncos fans, you hate football, and you're a quitter. Get over yourself.

If Jeff Legwold didn't need some more dirt for his article in the Post, I'm sure Jake could care less. He was probably called, and asked his opinion, so he gave it. I'm sure Jake hasn't changed his mind on the subject, coach, team, etc. Really can't blame the guy. I think us NFL fans almost expect everybody to tow the company line. I could tell you what Tebow will say before he answers a question because his incentive lies squarely in saying what is expected. Really, I'm not sure why the media even bothers to interview players. The most they can hope to achieve is a defensive or emotional response when they goad a player into saying something so they can write a headline. It's all bull****. Everything.

The cool thing about Tebow is that he believes what he says. Its not just jock-speak. When he says he's going to go out there and try to lead by playing hard, you know that he's going to do it.
