Default QB Depth chart

Who is our 2nd string QB?

The Denverbroncos.com depth chart has "Kyle Orton or Brady Quinn" listed as 2nd string. Is that some kind of John Fox thing where he refuses to list a 2nd string QB?

Anyway, should Timmy take off running and get knocked out of the game does anyone want to see Orton come in off the bench after being benched the week before? I still vividly remember Plummer coming in vs SF in 2006 and putting up a 0.0 QB rating.

Wouldn't it make sense to see what Quinn can do 1st especially since the old Emergency QB rule has been lifted and Orton could be put in if Quinn ****s the bed.

I can't see Orton lighting it up suddenly after having the worst year of his career and being benched should Timmy go down.

Does anyone know how they give out reps between Orton and Quinn if they are both listed as #2, by #2 I mean backups and not crap even though they are both crap.

How would you determine who to put on the field if Timmy goes down? Who would you like to see out there?

Gene Kranz wouldn't do this. There would be a clear delineation between first second and third string.

It is pretty clear that Orton is fourth string. Just ask the Tebow haters.

I pointed out in a different thread that the backup should have as close to the same skill set as the starter as possible in order to have some consistancy.

If the coaches are paying attention to that then Quinn would be the backup . Really Breton has the closest set of skills to Tebow, but he is also able to take snaps under Center.

I would think that Orton may just be the backup now, as he has the most Experience of our active QBs. and maybe he would actually do better coming in cold as he might not feel any pressure to perform that well, and might just relax and perform better, without a QB behind him that is the fan favorite.

Psychological . On the other hand he is Orton, and that would only last until he is asked to start again.

We've never distinguished between 2nd and 3rd string, we're sure as hell not gonna do that on my watch.

Now that Lloyd is gone I guess there's nobody around to start a rumor that Orton is looking like 4th string.

In the unfortunate event that Tebow gets hurt, you throw Quinn in there and see what he's got. This season is now a series of player evaluations.

Tebow = biggest unknown upside, and greatest possibility of a future with the team. Quinn = fairly young, and may have some upside along with a slight possibility of returning to the team.

Orton = No potential upside, no future with the team and no further evaluations necessary.
