Default What Tebow Thinks of Broncos WR's

"The defense has to be honest because all of them are deep threats. All of them have the ability to catch and run. They all, I believe, have great competitive excellence," Tebow said Wednesday. "When their number is called, they can step up and make big plays at important times in the game. Those are huge things. To have a receiving corps where all of them can step up at any time, I think that's big and it has to keep the defense honest."

The WR's will be adjusting to a new style of offense.
Expect to be open at all times as plays will be extended when things break down.
Do not give up on a play as long as #15 got the ball...

Exactly......coverage can and will break down when Tebow starts to scramble.....be ready WRs and come back to help your QB when he is in trouble.

Yeah, that's an added dimension.
It will hopefully minimize our 3's and out and wear out opposing defenses, which BTW, will be a huge advantage when playing at home because of the altitude...

Demaryius is such a freak that it would be tragic if he didn't make it in the NFL.

Our TE's, too. Green and Thomas should become Tebow's best friends.

If any of you are old enough you would know that is precisely what Broncos WRs needed to adjust to with Elway. I remember actually reading that. Elway struggled in his rookie year, and a lot of that was because the WRs wouldnt keep running their routes.

You see the WRs in those days were use to Craig Morton or Steve Deberg. Two QBs that wouldnt exaclty extend plays. All the WRs needed to understand and look back cause there was a "liklihood" that Elway just spun out of something. After a while the WRs would adjust. Even after that they need to get on the "same page" and Elway would then need to know their tendencies.

When a QB breaks out of a sack and gets outside....everyone is out of position, including the WRs. If the QB and WRs work well and they start knowing where and how far he can throw it on the run etc, magical things start to happen.

Yes, this is true. The problem I have is the foot problems. It is rather common for a foot to become a real chronic situation. He is bigger than a lot of WRs, and he cuts hard.

I think he is injury prone as it is. I will be hoping, but I am truly not expecting much in the form of long term.

Well, we already knew that he knows how to say the right things to the media. Lets hope that these aren't just a bunch of empty platitudes and the WR corps really comes through for him this weekend.

At this point I just hope he can make it through breakfast in the morning without coming up gimpy. If he sees the field for even a single snap it will be a small miracle.

The youngsters don't remember what it was like to ALWAYS feel like you were in the game, no matter what the score was.

Houston... Down by what, 19? With, like, 2 minutes to go?

That play where he just missed Decker after scrambling around a bit, is a prime example of this. They get on the same page and we stay on the field after the D just spent all that energy chasing our WR's and Tebow around the field.

And that one would have been a freakin' touchdown from out of nowhere. Can you imagine the last two weeks if he had hit that one?

A little more speed and Decker would have had it. I guarantee that Steve Smith would have caught that ball. He often brag "You cannot overthrow me."

Uh, our receivers in "those days" were Watson and Upchurch and they both had NO problem extending plays. Elway struggled in part because of our O line and his inexperience. I watched/attended every one of those games in the 70s and 80s.

One thing you took away from every game was as long as John was playing, we had a chance to win the game.

According to jerry rice (on ESPiN) the WRs also need to adjust to a left handed QB as the ball needs to be caught w the fingertips as opposed to the hands.

Because the ball spins in the opposite direction. I thought it was rather lame, but Rice said it took him a few games to get used to it (as he transitioned from Montana to Young).

I'm not buying this. They throw differently but not because of the rotation of the ball. Next he'll be talking about toilet bowls and the northern hemisphere
