FWIW... ‘This Time is Different' is an incredible read for anyone interested in a historical Macro-econ view of the world.

Interestingly, when the word 'stupid' is uttered in the White House, you get 50 people who respond with 'yes?'.

Pretty brave of you, Hobo, to include this particular part of the quote since it goes directly against what you and your righty buddies constantly say:
..."I think the president at one level understands that, you know. But he is limited in what he can do..." That's been my position all along. He didn't create this mess, and he doesn't have much power to fix it. This is a huge mess, and there are definitely things that could have and should have been done better, but unless and until people start working together it's never going to get fixed. But the constant bashing and complaining about what a terrible mess he's created and what a terrible job he's doing fixing it are both ignorant and unproductive. Nobody and everybody is the blame for this mess, and there is no easy fix. And there might not be any fix. This may be the new reality. |

Capitalist theorists are starting to formulate the theory that we can no longer create enough employment for the world population. Can you imagine what that will mean? I heard a story once. The English came to Gandhi and told him about their plan to create a huge textile industry in India. Of course, the way it worked at the time was that millions of Indians spun their own thread and wove their own cloth, on looms, in their own homes. It was a massive form of a cottage industry. In fact, Gandhi had adopted thread spinning as a symbol of his movement. So, he looked at the English and asked, "What do we do with all those people?" That's where we are today. Agri-conglomerates own our farmland. Corporations control our energy resources. Bankers control our economy. Corporations are now multi-national conglomerates, stretching their economic control over the globe, exerting economic pressure on countries everywhere to write policies for their benefit. We can already see the wealth of the world being skimmed into fewer and fewer pockets worldwide. So, what is their plan for humanity? Looks to me like serfdom. Nothing new under the sun. Privatization is a wealth transfer tool. I wish more people could understand that as well.
I don't mind profit, or making $ - but give back, pay it forward to what makes you great. We don't have Milton Hershey's anymore. Guys who understood that you can be profitable and build "more" than a retirement portfolio. |
