Just to put this into perspective of how BAD Orton looked today.
We all remember that thanksgiving night on NFL Network when Plummer threw for 216 yds and had a TD and INT. Broncos lost to the Chiefs 19-10. I remember Plummer had marched the team down the field on a couple drives but still the Broncos were struggling offensively that season, and the next game Cutler was put in vs Seattle. Orton on the other had, had the worst showing of a QB I've seen in quite a while. Going 6/13 and had 34 yards in the first half and had just one INT, could have been two. Orton's body language told me he gave up. I don't think he cares anymore, just going through the motions until he lands on a new team. He's done, and there's no way he starts for this organization again. ![]() |

Like I said in the "Who pulled the tebow trigger" thread... Orton pulled the tebow trigger.
Just an unaceptable level of futility. |

The play calling was quite possibly worse than Orton today.

No question Tebow should have been playing sooner and in fact, I believed when the season started. But to be fair, Orton has never really been accepted by many fans, especially when he first came to the team.

Welcome to Arrowhead Stadium, 2010. And for good measure... welcome to whatever they call the stadium in Phoenix 2010. This was a continuation of that level of play. Literally, the second worst starting quarterback in the entire league. It might even be a toss up between Orton and Cassel for the league worst. Thank God he's done here. I am finally looking forward to watching Bronco games again.

I agree that INTon gave up.
I get the feeling just from his body language that he is frustrated, he doesn't look a comfortable lining the O up. I think that the trade with Miami demoralized him and the drama of the Timbo fans wanting Tim to play was just too much for him. The most telling stat for me is that Orton usually protects the ball and has a good TD to INT ratio but suddenly this year he has thrown 7 INTs to 8 TDs. I would move him to 3rd string, Leave Quinn as the #2 with the same reps as he has been getting and let Orton move on when the season is over. Would have been nice to get something for him |

I still wish Plummer was playing somewhere in the NFL. At least he has handball and a hot wife.

Fact is it was time to move on from SOB, it was time to move on from plummer, I had no problem at the time of keeping Jay, who knows what could have happened if we had a real QB while mCd was here.
Finally it is time to move on from Orton. I hope we get a decade out of Timmy but if not I hope the staff is ready to move on should it become clear that he is not the best option for the team. |

I was so glad to see Plummer replaced and I am so glad to see Orton finally replaced. Today is a good day.

Well Gannon said he could see it in his eye, so..
His body language was saying he didnt want to be out there, he was giving up. That said, I thought all the play calling was vanilla/ predictable. There was never a new wrinkle in the plays. Or a great call to get us out of the funk. At least until he pulled Orton, that was a good overdue call. |

I don't think he quit. As much as I've been calling for Tebow, I actually feel kind of bad for Orton. Everyone was rooting against him and he was under tremendous pressure to perform because of it, he had to know he was real close to getting the ax and that this was quite possibly his last game. It was lot's of pressure and he buckled that's all. It was a a long and hard time to be a Broncos fan during Orton's reign but he's a good dude and I wish him the best. Hope he get's another chance somewhere else.
But... Thank God it's Tebow time! Last edited by IHaveALight; 10-09-2011 at 10:25 PM.. |

F--k Orton and anyone who thinks he was under too much pressure to perform. He's a pro quarterback making 9 million dollars this year. Plus, he was given the starting job with no competition despite the way last season ended. He wasn't under enough pressure. If there would have been an actual competition for the starting position, he'd be on the bench. Instead, we get to hear about how a seven year NFL veteran just couldn't handle the expectations of the fans.

Excuse me for being compassionate to a man in hard times. Forgot our society's ways for a second, he's dead now let's tear his limbs off and defecate on his torso.

he's not dying. he's not losing his home. his wife isn't leaving him. all that's happening is that he's been demoted to #2 behind Tebow. and he'll still get paid $9M this year. in short, he's getting paid a boatload of money to sit on his ass and do nothing for the rest of the year. if you think that warrants compassion, then i hate to tell you, but you'd better start having compassion for every unionized hack working for the federal government! |

Unfortunately for all of us (Orton as well as Fox as well as the fans), Orton made more game-losing plays than he did game-winning plays. He had an opportunity to win over the fans, and he failed miserably. To make matters worse, he made public statements saying that he didn't "play for the fans", which certainly isn't endearing. |

Agreed, but Fox would just replace him with someone that's fits his 3 yards and a cloud of dust/sludge in the shoes offense even more. We won't know what the shotgun even is after Fox picks the next OC.

The only thing that makes me remotely happy about Orton is that Bowlen is going to have to endure seeing a guy making 9M to hold a clipboard.
Nice work, old man. I'm glad its in his pocket rather than yours, though (even though he's a douche).

Secondly I feel sorry for you too if you think that any materialistic crap that someone might have makes all they're struggles and hard times in life meaningless. Do you really think the money is the main driving factor for Orton? He get's the money because that's what the NFL is all about. The NFL is a cash cow and they make many people wealthy because of that. If I was in that position I would play all the proper business cards to get as much as I could out of it too. But actually playing, that is what the game is all about. This is what this guy has done all his life and now he's done. He may never get another chance to start again. His life as he knew it has just flipped upside down. Money isn't everything bud. |

money is the main driving factor for everyone who holds a job. you work to make money. if you don't make money, it's called a hobby. Orton's job is professional football player, so yeah, money is the main driving factor. if it weren't, he could play flag football in the park on weekends for free. |
