If you ask some around here, the NFL shouldn't be supporting the cure of breast cancer at all.

R.I.P. Incredibly generous and caring guy, wonderful family. My buddy's dating her daughter, very sad stuff. I'll get some info in the coming weeks about any charities or donations if anyone's interested.

RIP Dinger.

Thanks for your contributions to the Broncos as WR coach working with Rod Smith during the Super Bowl years and later as OC.

Quote:
Heimerdinger and Shanahan were also college roommates and remained close friends throughout their coaching careers.
"We lost a very special person and my best friend in Mike Heimerdinger," Shanahan said in a statement released by the Redskins on Saturday. "I know the man upstairs needed a superstar so he took him earlier than we all wanted. His love for his family was unprecedented and I will forever miss him."
Sad...

Heimerdinger spent seven years with the Broncos, including 1995-99 as the team's wide receivers coach before returning in 2006 as assistant head coach and 2007 as assistant head coach/quarterbacks.

Heimerdinger had spoken to Broncos executive vice president of football operations John Elway as recently as last Sunday while the team's long-time trainer Steve Antonopulos, strength and conditioning coach Rich Tuten and linebackers coach Richard Smith had visited Heimerdinger last weekend, the day before the Broncos faced the Titans in Nashville.

"Mike coached for the Broncos during the most successful period in team history, highlighted by the club's back-to-back World Championship seasons of 1997-98. Known affectionately as Dinger, Mike earned respect and admiration from this franchise and around the NFL for his grit, passion and "never-give-up" attitude," the Broncos said in a statement.
