This could mean Patrick Peterson will win a SB in three years, given Hoge's record.

If anyone would know though, it's Hoge. It was amazing how good that guy was at playing both QB and CB during his time in the league... and also acting as an assistant coach at the same time. You just don't see many guys with that kind of ability anymore. And it's amzing that ESPN is able to employ almost all of them.

Didn't Peterson basically win them the game with a punt return?

Hoge has taken one two many concussions.

I'm assuming he saw the NFL.com recap where they show Steve Smith (****ty receiver with no experience in the league) making a great catch on him in the EZ for a perfectly thrown ball.

It's still a catch on him, but he kinda made up for it with some solid defensive performance on the day as a whole and that whole 89 yard TD through traffic thing.

This.

Before now I was thinking Deion's positive opinion on Peterson's game might mean something. But that was before GOAT CB Hodge piped in.

It seems to me that even really good DBs take a few years to get their legs in the NFL.

A lot of them struggle, but I do remember Charles Woodson, Champ Bailey and Deion Sanders being pretty formidable as rookies.

Does that name have its origins in The Shire?

Remember Springs getting man handled by McCaffrey? He turned out ok after some learning steps in the NFL. Stugott while his play on ST was awesome, Hoge is talking about his CB play. I personally think he is far from a bust and will be top 10 CB in the next 2 to 3 years. If not, he has a career in returns.

It was a pretty bad game as a CB to be honest (his TD return doesn't change that). But it was the kid's first start coming off a shortened offseason. What is this obsession with judging rookies before they've even played a full year anymore? It's retarded.

Hoge is just a moron sometimes. the things he says don't translate to real life.
he hates any player that isn't old school traditional in function to the game.
i laugh when he chirps about how QB's can't learn technique and poise.

Well the only reason pp is starting is because the number 2 cb went down for the year. When you take a cb at 5 you expect him to start. It wasn't long ago he was called safest player in draft and the cb that
Dieon would be compared to. He is very raw and drafted way too high in the draft.
