Default Oakland pressure from front four.............

On damn near every play Oakland was in the backfield. Isn't a screen pass supposed to help slow the pash rush. I don't remember seeing even one screen pass ? Bad play calling ? The O-line stunk but seriously Oakland could have the best D-line we see all year.

Still this does not excuse Orton's three ring circus and lack of effort, enthusiasm, motivation or athletism on his part. But I believe the play calling was horrid especially with Fox's years of coaching they should have been able to adjust the play calling based upon what the defense threw at them Am I wrong ?

I agree 100%. The CU game vs. Cal was a perfect example of how a well timed and executed screen pass can be effective. It's even more perplexing because catching passes out of the backfield is one thing Moreno does well.

According to Ted Bartlett at itsalloverfatman, Orton is our worst screen executing QB (TT is best), maybe they didn't want to bother with it.

Well when Kuper, Walton were getting ragged dolled and it took all concentration for them to just stay on their feet all game they couldn't of executed one anyway.

Horrible O-line play = Bad QB play and it won't matter who the QB is

I thought when people were making the case that horrible Oline play had an impact on our other 2 QB's performance the thought was Orton would have tore teams up with his incredible pre-snap reads and decision making Funny how things have changed... Apparently, now no one could have performed under that kind of pressure although Tebow and Quin both managed to do it (although Quinn wilted against AZ) during the preseason... Must have just been an off day for our "most talented QB"...

Seriously? Brady/Manning/Roethlisberger/Rivers/Warner etc just off the top of my head are QBs who play with the OL.

There are QBs in this league, not even guys that are hugely talented that realize what their OL can/cannot do. Guys quicken their dropbacks/release, use their experience/arm strength to take more chances.

Hell even completely immobile QBs like Warner had the balls and heart to hang in there for an extra second to throw that longer/intermediate pass and take a hard hit for the team the same way a WR/TE is expected to absorb a hit when going over the middle.

Even stupid, talent less QBs have done it like Kitna in Detroit with Martz when he had that one very good season and hung in the pocket taking hit after hit to execute that long ball offense with Martz. I think Kitna was one of the most sacked QBs that year and ended up like a punch drunk boxer but he did what he had to do.

Except Kyle Orton. He just turtles up and takes a sack that puts you out of field goal range, throws that ball away instead of hanging in there and trying to make something happen or trips over his own dick and stumbles into a sack.

Orton's pretty much playing for next season for a new team and he's not going to put his body on the line for Denver.

Raider D-line is pretty good, so we'll see in the coming weeks how good our o-line is. I'm not hopeful.

They are great against the run. Our line is still pretty bad at run blocking though. The line did a pretty good job in pass protection on Monday, Orton and McCoy just made them look bad.

There were definitely times where he had plently of time to throw!

Oakland's front four is nasty. They rag dolled the Chargers line both games last year, too.

It didn't bother Tebow last season, or this preseason... Great theory though.

you are not wrong. There are other things that teams do to negate a strong pass rush - roll-outs, moving pockets, bootlegs, quick slants, draws and traps. I didn't see a whole lot of any of that....a few quick slants I suppose, in the second half. Hopefully the coaching staff sees the same that we see now and is better prepared.

looking at the schedule, I think the following teams may have equivalent or better DL than oakland:

Green Bay
Miami
Detroit
NY Jets
Chicago
New England

Seymour looks better now than in his "prime", imo. Straight unblockable.

Clayton is not "in with" the Broncos.

The guy who is "in with" the Broncos from ESPN is Mortensen.
