Just read Mamet's book written by a former lefty (and writer of "Glengarry Glen Ross") that changed his stance. Interesting book, and his views that framed the left's stances on most things was interesting.

Essentially his view, and the rights view, was framed in a "tragic view" that assumes that mistakes happens - laws are not perfect, etc.
