NFL realized that it was pissing off a substantial portion of its customers, and did a complete 180 on the issue. Free market FTW.

I will be holding a full scale Civil War re enactment on the 50 yard line this week during the national anthem, followed by an artistic rendition of MacBeth, where I will sacrifice live goats to the Aztecan gods.

Totally grassroots, and if you don't let me do it, you're a racist.

I'm worried you forgot who won the Civil War.

More than the anthem. Just in it's thinking, the NBA "gets it." Not a racial observation.

Example, and probably not a good one: The way the NBA has formed an Electronic Sports league. I'm the last guy who thinks some guy holding a joystick is an athlete, BUT, it's the 21st Century, and it's huge. They (the NBA) seem to think ahead. The NFL reacts.

I don't think that's true. I think the NBA always had that written in their rules.

But NBA players have found ways to protest, most notably the "I Can't Breathe" t-shirts worn during warm ups.

But the NBA also works with the players to make statements, and listens to the players concerns. The NFL does none of that.

Also, there are some really outspoken critics in the NBA. LeBron called Trump a bum. Pop and Kerr have expressed their political beliefs often. The NBA doesn't make a thing of it.

The NFL reacts but they are will be and always have been on top of the big 4 sports list.

Thatís all good. None of it is during the anthem though. This isnt the first time nfl players protest or speak out. Jim Brown was a far bigger voice than Kaepernick. Pops priority IMO is no longer basketball. He will get into politics I bet. Now that his wife passed away I could see him retiring soon. Not sure his head is in it anymore.

If a player in the NBA had kneeled during the anthem, I don't think the fan base would care nearly as much. I really don't. I also don't think the NBA would fan the flames. They DEF wouldn't kowtow to trump and pence. Didn't Abdul-Rauf used to sit during it? It was an oddity that people sorta understood, against his religion or whatever. And that was his right. I'm sure some were annoyed, but I mostly think people's "outrage" with this is very disingenuous

Kneelers should be drafted. They have no idea what veterans give up so they can make millions.

Grand majority of Americans support the flag, vets & their country. TV sets were shutting off. Whatever cause they thought they were supporting. It backfired.

They suspended Abdul and made him stand. He received death threats and still talks about it today. He was out of the league at 29 even though he could play.

Wow did they? I guess I'm remembering that all wrong. Oh, wait, now I'm totally remembering it. They made some weird compromise where he could like close his eyes or something but he had to stand. As if that's much better lol

That's ridiculous too. I never understood why Americans pray to the flag. it's always been strange to me, and has nothing to do with "respecting the troops."

Americans don't pray to the flag. They stand and put their hands on their heats. Similar to all other countries. It shows respect and allegiance to the USA. Something that political activists want to destroy.
