Think carefully.
Sure since Canada is right behind or in front of U.S., in suicide rates. Guns their problem too? Guns rank around tenth for accidental child death. Find the leading murder cities and you will find those nazi draconian gun laws.

Ahh yes because fast suicide (firearm) doesn't count, but slow suicide (alcohol) does?

Not only do they have no solution of their own, they actively attack even things that would both reduce gun violence and preserve rights.

Right on queue, you try to deflect and conflate a bad law with a good idea.

I'm not sure of the specifics in the Wal Mart incident, but based on the practical needs of a proximity based system, it's not at all clear to me that the system would've prevented anything in this case. As far as the Lanza case, the mother was already the problem. Adding RFID electronics to the equation would've accomplished absolutely nothing.
Ahh yes, I provide examples of some of the types of situations that smarts guns are primarily being designed for, and you spout unsupported assertions and pretend that you have actually addressed the point.

No solution will ever prevent all misuse. That doesn't mean we shouldn't fight against misuse (again, do you lock your home?).

Any electrical to mechanical interface is going to present a weak spot for manipulation. Whether it's providing external voltage to trigger the mechanism or simply replacing the striker mechanism, criminal enterprise will have little trouble.
And again, no security device is full proof, but again the market for smart guns is largely about law abiding citizens, such as myself, would would like to be able to better secure their firearms both while being stored and while being used.

To hear you talk, the mugger is going to take my gun from me, make a quick field mod, and turn it against me on the spot.

LMFAO

Quote:
It's not really an issue while we're talking about a niche product. Criminals will simply avoid them. But while it's a niche product, it's not really accomplishing anything anyway, except potentially for the owner.

That's the implementation that's on the market. Others have been worked on. Not really any reliable enough to market.
As long as the people working on the products have their lives threatened by psychotic gun nuts (and those psychotic gun nuts having support from large well funded lobbying groups), there won't be any progress.

It's sickly ironic that those who proclaim that America is the greatest nation on Earth also think that all our institutions are merest tissues and that our government is to be so feared and hated that we must be armed.

In short, you think our Republic is a fragile sham.

GFY.

Try firing a gun at your head and see if you think it 'violent.'

Just think - with stricter gun laws Abe Lincoln would still be alive to this day abolishing slavery and building log cabins.

You have assumed my party once and now you are assuming NRA members are a certain party? Stereotype much?

Ask yourself why your ideas continue to fail. Bet it's not your fault

Gun owners vs. the NRA: What the polling shows
Quote:

In December, 2011, the survey firm YouGov interviewed 45,000 Americans and asked whether they or someone in their household owned a gun and whether they were members of the NRA.

NRA members were also different politically even from gun owners who weren’t in the NRA. For example, 70 percent of gun owners who were NRA members called themselves “conservative” or “very conservative.” Only 44 percent of gun owners who weren’t NRA members said that. And while gun ownership has become increasingly confined to Republicans, there are still big differences in terms of party identification even among gun owners. The vast majority of NRA members (73 percent) identified with or leaned toward the Republican Party. But among gun owners who weren’t in the NRA, only 49 percent were Republicans; more than a third (35 percent) were actually Democrats.

Maybe. But they also have a crazy high suicide rate. :p

Guess we better start looking into a registry and waiting period for buying rope. Or probably most types of electrical wire. Or pretty much anything stringy.

Oh and ban enclosed garages. And railroads.

I can put up 100 accidental deaths maybe more for every one home invasion you find.

Again I am not saying guns should be banned I have three myself but people need to look at their situation and see if a gun actually makes them safer.

Tennessee Just Tossed The Constitution In The Shredder -- Bans Federal Gun Laws

Too bad for Tennessee -- federal laws always trump state laws.

If you want guns you just have to accept that some kids are going to get shot. If you don't want vaccines you just have to accept that some kids are going to die from measles. It is really not that complicated.

Dumbest thing you've ever posted.

Tell me again how you want to free states' hand to enforce federal immigration law.
