Blowing by a bunch of cars quickly breaking seems like a bad idea in the first place. Avoiding an object in the process isn't really a selling point if it shouldn't have been attempted in the first place.

That's the kind of situation where human intelligence probably works better. In a heavy traffic situation where one lane clogs and the other is free, sometimes you have to blow by break lights. Maybe that's what the programming was doing.

But in this case you have plenty of open space, but loads of sudden brake lights. In the human mind, that immediately registers as danger, and slow the eff down.
We’ve seen your posts here, rational decision is not your strong point.

Sorry couldn’t resist.

Instead of a 5 billion boondoggle how about if that money went to free or near free education? Why wouldn’t we invest in our future with that money instead?

Yes, it’s already been established that the OP is NOT smarter than a fifth-grader, but it’s nice to get even more confirmation...

Her notion that taxing people 70% at a top bracket of 10 million wouldn't raise that much IMO. So few Americans make that much it would be easy for many of them to just leave the country. Can anyone find a stat telling how many Americans even make that much. i found one saying only about 2000 people, but that seemed a little low to me.

People that loaded can turn income generation on and off at will.

They have the wealth to generate income, or produce more wealth without income. They'll simply shift more from the former to the latter.

It would be a budgetary asterisk. Wouldn't raise any useful amount of funding.

Plenty of authority I can appeal to as well.

Still doesn't make doing so anything but a fallacy.

I doubt we have enough people making 10 mil or more to make this plan viable.

Romney, the 2012 Republican presidential nominee, was able to avoid the AMT due to a unique tax arrangement for his Bain Capital retirement package, and by receiving most of his $13.7 million income in capital gains ― passive flows from stocks, bonds and real estate holdings. Romney didn’t just pay a low tax rate, he paid a low tax rate by using the tax code in ways that available to only a few, very wealthy financiers, like stuffing an IRA with $102 million when the maximum annual contribution is just a few thousand.

Nah, unless the rest of the system were overhauled, he'd mostly lolz it off...

For your regular millionaires and even some billionaires like President Trump who have a lot of realized income, the income tax deduction for a charitable contribution of appreciated property can be a big deal, but when you get to people like Jeff Bezos and Warren Buffet and Mark Zuckerberg, it is a different story. Warren Buffett receives a salary of $100,000 per year from Berkshire Hathaway. He should count himself lucky. Jeff Bezos gets a salary of $81,840 from Amazon. Their vast wealth is overwhelmingly in the form of unrealized appreciation. Unrealized means that they have never paid income tax on it and probably never will.

You understand that Romney, and the ultra rich are mostly an investment class??

Then you know tax hikes wouldn't affect them if capital gains is left alone.

None of them pay more than approx a 13% tax rate.

So how do you turn off the spigot of taxable income and turn it in to tax free wealth??

Sell your portfolio? Nope. Taxable

Reinvest? Doesn't shelter the money from taxes.

So how does this work exactly?
