Unless you have a very solid team in place, most rookie QB's struggle. And having a solid team with a rookie QB tends to be rare.

Youre reading way too much into teams being wary of rushing rookie QBs and/or not wanting to hand over starting jobs to guys without them earning it first.

Mayfield is taking all his reps with the third team and in no way does this reflect on his talent or potential to be the future franchise QB.

Easy to say in early June. After going 1 - 31. If this season doesn't start much better, a coach trying to keep his job will pull out all stops including a QB that isn't quite ready. That has been the Cleveland mantra for a long time. You would think with all the high picks and available cap space this team has had in recent years that things would be on an upturn. There must be a Bermuda Triangle type thing hanging over Lake Erie.
