Frank Luvu, ILB, Washington State
Height: 6-2.
Weight: 235
40 time: 4.77

Lions to have official predraft visit with Frankie Luvu. Luvu, a linebacker, has been ultra productive in his career. In four years with the Cougars, Luvu put up 111 tackles, 19 of which came for loss, eight sacks, two interceptions, three fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles. He's an underrated prospect who could be an undrafted free agent, but it will be interesting to see if a team takes the plunge to pick him up based on his workouts, which reports state were good.

https://247sports.com/nfl/detroit-li...Luvu-116112746

Brandon Pertile, G, Virginia
Height: 6-4.
Weight: 315
40 time: 5.67

Brandon Pertile is one of the 30 players the Detroit Lions have brought in for a private workout. He diagnoses blitzes very effectively. He finishes blocks. Long after the play is gone, he is still working his man. He puts other players on the ground with shocking regularity and then makes sure they’re not getting back up. He clearly understands his role within the entire play and hands off defenders to other blockers with a high level of skill before seeking another defender to put his hands on. Baiting the defensive lineman to the gap that the offense wants him to shoot is a skill that Pertile has. He often gets overeager defenders to take themselves out of plays.

Tre Herndon, CB, Vanderbilt
Height: 6-1.
Weight: 188
40 time: 4.45

PRO DAY: Tre Herndon Draws Plenty of NFL Interest At Vanderbilt Workout
Over 20 NFL scouts were in attendance, including the Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Director of Football Operations Shelton Quarles and Tennessee Titans GM Jon Robinson. Herndon has been invited to the Titans local pro day on March 13th.

Brandon Bean, WR, Grand Valley State
Height: 6-3.
Weight: 214
40 time: REALLY fast for a white guy

Grand Valley State WR Brandon Bean met with the Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions and Denver Broncos during Thursday's pro day.

Devin Gray, WR, Cincinnati
Height: 5-11.
Weight: 183
40 time: 4.42

Receiver Devin Gray timed 4.42s in the forty, 3.98s in the short shuttle, 6.92s 3 cone while touching 36 inches in the vertical jump. Over the past two days he met with the Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans Saints, Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.

We stamped receiver Devin Gray with a sixth-round grade, and the senior is well thought of in the scouting community. Gray is a solid athlete who plays fast and catches the ball well. Though he does not stand out in any aspect of the position, Gray is reliable and could catch on as a fourth receiver in the NFL.

And pissed I didn't have this guy higher, so he's not official:

Airius Moore, LB, NC State
Height: 6-0. Weight: 237.
Projected 40 Time: 4.61.
Projected Round (2018): 4-6.
3/25/18: In speaking with team sources, they say that Moore is getting mid-round grades. Moore had a good senior season, but went under the radar because so much attention was paid to Bradley Chubb and the Wolfpack defensive linemen. Moore totaled 67 tackles with three interceptions and four passes broken up in 2017. As a junior, he recorded 86 tackles with five passes broken up. Moore collected 78 tackles as a sophomore and 37 as a freshman. His pass-coverage skills could help him to rise in the months leading up to the 2018 NFL Draft.

Bowlen will be in soon to put his official stamp of approval on this.

Those six players are:

Darius Allensworth, CB, California
Frank Luvu, ILB, Washington State
Brandon Pertile, G, Virginia
Tre Herndon, CB, Vanderbilt
Brandon Bean, WR, Grand Valley State
Devin Gray, WR, Cincinnati

ALL HAIL OUR BENEVOLENT LEADER!!!!!!

Hey! I want a boon as well Bowlen!

How about....OT Boone Myers from Iowa! Bragging Rights for me!!!

40 and Lynch doesn't get anywhere close to 31. It might not get you to 39.

And if they took Mayfield at 5, the organization should burn to the ground.

I have a bunch of leftover money. There's still some good players that didn't get picked up...should be a 2nd round for UDFA

We tried a 2nd round one year and it didn't really work, not enough interest, etc. That's why Bowlen let's us put up to 50 bids in, so we can use up our whole budget. We always put 50 names on the list. DBroncs and I usually do 3 to 8 main targets and then 40+ contingency bids. We use all our cash every time.

You got some good experience for next year. Just adjust the strategy a little. You also got a little unlucky with some bids narrowly edging you out.

My strategy for UDFA is to target players I have rated highly and give good bids on them. Bids that I know most people won't beat. If I miss out on one or two, I'll have contingency dudes lined up.

This year I bid on 5 dudes, I am confident at least 3 of them will be drafted. That's going to get me points by MUG's math. And I got 4 of the 5 five, plus a couple contingency guys.

Throwing 4-5K at a bunch of nobodies isn't my idea of a fun time. I want to get players I know who can play and get picked. I usually do that well in UDFA every year.

Jeff Gordon of UDFA. Back to claim pole position. Holla atcha boy.

I did something similar but only had 12 contingency bids. Only got the homer one that I figured nobody wanted. There’s a QB out there unclaimed that might go in the late 7th for example That I want.

Look at past UDFA threads and see what the high bids were and take a look at the posters who took your guys and see their bidding history. High bids, averages, etc. It's a lot of work, but it is worth it. Also some positions tend to get more money thrown at them than others.

Let's all pitch in some money and buy an nFl team.

Totally changed my strategy this year and it worked pretty well. Got a bunch of guys I have never watched but I figured, get more guys in camp to compete with the crap WR corp AZ has, and OL. I missed my chances during the draft and ran out of picks, so UDFA it was. Rip away!

That's what I did with the draft itself, caught patterns, made notes, remembered tendencies.
Unfortunately, it only counts for 1 season.
