And this is why you should always have a knuckleballer at the ready.

Cardinals beat the Reds 4-1 behind a strong start by Michael Wacha. A return to health for Wacha would be a very big deal for the Cards.

I have no idea how the Braves are 5-0, I don't know how long it will last, but I'm going to enjoy it for now.

The Tigers are 5-0 and are beating the Indians 6-1 in the 2nd inning.

Their lineup is solid top to bottom and they are raking this season.

Ian Kinsler and Miggy are both batting .478 on the season.

I know it's early, but this lineup looks solid.

Carlos Martinez looking pretty good in his major league debut in the starting rotation. Two runs, 6 Ks through 5.

Martinez went 6, 2 runs, 8 Ks. Leaves with a 3-2 lead.

Until he was stretched out this spring, he's never been considered part of the cardinals rotation. He was used for 3-6 inning starts when they had a rash of injuries last season. Now he's a real starter.

He's never had a three-inning start in his career. He was in the rotation last summer, what do you call seven straight starts?

Jaime Garcia's injury gave him an opportunity this year or else he would have been in the bullpen to start. He made a relief appearance on Opening Day 2015.

Garcia was never counted on for anything this season. Since Garcia had surgery without the approval of the team in May of 2013, Mozeliak has put no trust in him. Martinez entered spring training preparing to start. The opening day relief appearance was because the Cardinals weren't planning to use him as a starter for another week. Most of the games he started last season would have been full bullpen games otherwise. How many innings did he go in those starts since this seems to be a huge deal for you?

This start today was his first as a full-fledged member of the rotation.

89 innings in 57 appearances last season.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/pl...&year=2014&t=p

In those 7 starts he pitched a total of 32 innings. Slightly more than 4 innings per start. As I said

.

Matt Carpenter hit a two run homer in the top of the 11th, and the Cardinals beat the Reds 7-5.

CLEVELAND -- Nobody rocks Cleveland like Miguel Cabrera.

Detroit's menacing slugger homered twice and drove in four runs as the Tigers moved to 6-0 for the first time in 30 years with an 8-5 win over the Cleveland Indians on Sunday.

Cabrera, who entered the series batting just .182, hit a two-run homer in the first inning off T.J. House (0-1) and J.D. Martinez added an insurance solo shot in the ninth as the Tigers finished off a series sweep, improving to 18-5 in Cleveland since 2013.

Cabrera went 4 for 4 with his first two homers of the season, a double and single. With Cabrera needing a triple for the cycle, Indians manager Terry Francona intentionally walked him in the eighth even though there was a runner on first.

During the three-game series, he went 11 of 14 (.786) with six RBIs, and raised his average to .520.

"He's special, man. He's special," Tigers second baseman Ian Kinsler said. "He's fun to watch and a game should be sold out just because of him. People should just want to come watch him hit. It's incredible."

I guess how hot the Tigers are meaning more SSJ updates. I just wish they kept Torii Hunter around but at least he went back "home". Nice start for the Tigers and wish I could say the same for the Angels but Royals kicking ass right with the Tigers.

Yankees won't be far behind.

Except for tonight, they can't hit their way out of a wet paper bag.

What happened to the "Albatross" today!?!?
He sure try's to look all cool up there on the mound with his long hair, mad dogging all the batters, but as usual he blows dong in the 2nd and gives up endless runs. ANA needs Richards back so freakin bad. Just so they can dump that no talent @$$ clown Wilson. I HATE THAT F'ER!

Oooof. A crushing loss for the rox today. Dexter Fowler with a two run blast in the top of the 9th to sink his former teammates.

Mostly good pitching with some timely hitting here and there. You're right, it won't hold up.
