The Astros were absolutely freakin disgraceful last year. I mean, they went 51-111 last year. Even with an 18 win improvement, they are still just 69-93. lol

Miggy will be 31 this season, I know it's bad baseball business to give a player entering his 30s a deal like that, but Miggy needed to stay a Detroit Tiger for the rest of his career.

His legacy of being a Detroit Tiger the rest of his career will be worth the money....besides, it's not like I'm footing the bill.

Moving Miggy back to 1st base will help keep him healthy longer into his 30s.

Miggy is too big of a guy to not get beat up playing the hot corner for 150+ games a season....you could see the toll it took on him at the end of last season.

Baseball is kind of interesting to me in the sense, most players get a decent contract when they enter their prime, and usually get a massive contract when they are in their prime, but most likely going to regress before the end of that contract.

Miggy is worth that now, of course he is. Going to be interesting to see where he is in 4 years.

I'm glad Miggy is back to playing first base again, as continuing to play third base would have ground him down and taken years off the end of his career.

At least at the back end of that deal Miggy can move to DH if need be.

Joe Nathan blew a save to waste Max Scherzer's pitching gem today, but new Tiger 2B Ian Kinsler came through with a single in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Tigers a 2-1 win over the Royals.

The Tigers are out to a 2-0 start on the season with 2 comeback wins under new manager Brad Ausmus.

That was horrific. Congrats to the Mariners and Angels better make playoffs or heads will be rolling. With Texas and their injuries and Astros in the division, there is no excuse for a bad start. Then again, Astros owned the Angels last season.
At least I got my Trout bobblehead on Tuesday night.

Sales of the Arizona Diamondbacks' $25 corn dog have been so brisk

The 18-inch corn dog, called the D-Bat, is stuffed with cheddar cheese, jalapenos and bacon and is served with a side of fries.

The corn dog became a social media star when the team announced the item two weeks ago. Team president and CEO Derrick Hall said at the time that he didn't have any expectations, but Hall told ESPN.com on Wednesday that the item has been so successful, the team needs some catch-up time.

"We sold 300 on the first night," Hall said. "And we only sold 100 last night because we ran out. We can't make them fast enough

What do you expect from a team that has arguably the worst farm system in baseball? Eddie Bane, the scouting director that landed Trout, got fired one year after this brilliant selection. Outside of Kole Calhoun and Garrett Richards, organization isn't churning out too many homegrown players. You can't win like that. The contracts and aging eventually catches up. Need young reinforcements to complete the process.

Miggy goes 4 for 5 with a HR and 3 RBIs today, as the Tigers beat the Orioles 10-4.

Miggy's HR in the 8th inning was the 2,000th hit of his career.

Miggy doesn't turn 31 years old until later in the month.

The Tigers beat the Orioles 7-6 and are the only unbeaten team left in the majors.

Torii Hunter had a double, a home run, and 5 RBIs.

The Tigers were up 7-1 in the 9th inning before the bullpen **** themselves and made it close.

Phil Coke was shaky and Joe Nathan almost blew the save.

I was hoping Joe Nathan would be the reliable closer the Tigers have been lacking for a long time.

Joe Nathan is 39 years old, but has been a shut down closer for a long time, so I'm hoping he'll still be good for a couple more seasons.

I've seen him pitch in three games this season and he's been shaky in two of those outings.

I'm not that nervous about it yet....but the Tigers need Nathan to be the shut down closer they've been lacking.

Ian Kinsler led of the top of the 9th inning with a double off Dodger closer Kenley Jansen and Victor Martinez drove him home with 2 outs in the top of the 9th inning.

Tied up 2-2 going to the bottom of the 9th inning.

Some shoddy fielding by new Tiger LF Rajai Davis allows the Dodgers to score the winning run.

Phil Coke still sucks.

The Dodgers win 3-2 in 10 innings.
