Without all the bs wisearse posts, this probably means that PL and CK have shown enough to give coaches some confidence in them. Likely, this creates room for other signings over the next couple weeks.

Ya they dumped a LS too. So thereís 3 spots for tryout guys/FA.

Lynch and Kelly will battle for 2 and 3rd, and Theyíll carry 3 QBs IMO this season.

Well that was fun, and while my dream of shouting "Kuntz Puntz" during a game is dead, I think I'll find a way to move on.

You know what? I am going to shout it anyway.

But do it after you chug 4 ounces of whiskey.

Or you could argue the opposite, that they both suck so bad they need all the reps possible and forget anyone else taking space...

I don't think that anybody on this staff actually thought Nick Stevens was going to earn a spot on this roster. I think he was signed as a camp arm...a guy to take snaps so the other three guys could wait in line 25% longer for their turn in OTAs...for whatever that's worth. So I'm pretty sure they knew he'd be cut, which still makes me ask the question; Why is this even worth signing a guy they know has no other purpose?

The off chance Kelly or Lynch were absolutely garbage they might find a serviceable clipboard holder?

I don't think that's why they bring these "camp arms" in. I think it's just to fill a space so they don't wear out the other guy's arms this early and create a problem. I've just never seen the benefit of this idea in the NFL. What can you do in OTA's to get cut anyway? All you're doing is dropping back and throwing a pass without the threat of a real pass rush. It's unfortunate for a guy like this, since he probably thought he had some kind of longshot chance, but I doubt they had any intent to even look at this guy. I saw him in college and wasn't very impressed.

It was a "Ah ****, we signed a guy who quit football and had no better options" signing.
