If they June-1'd Suh, they'd save 17 mil, but 9 mil in dead money.

For as much crap as Elway gets on these boards, he's been pretty good with the cap and not pushing the can down the road ie a bunch of restructures that alot of teams do.

Yes. That's why I don't see him going after Cousins if the contract goes over $20M

Yeah it's pretty much a 1-year extension in semantics.

I dont agree with that. I doubt Elway will have the highest offer out there, but Cousins would give him a young, healthy QB for the next 4-6 years.

None of the QB's in the draft are a lock to be great. And Denver has been linked to Cousins too much for them not to go after him.

No I meant $20M Elway is kinda of cheap. I think he will offer $20M to start and then go up $23M.

For Cousins I think the negotiations start well above $23mil. Anything less and you're not even in the running for him.

Okay, so you are apparently completely divorced from reality on this one. Even Elway isn't going to lowball a guy like that.

I agree. He won't show up to Denver knowing that is where he wants to start.

If NYG are intent on not taking a QB #2 then Barkley or Chubb make the most sense for them.
NYG loves pass rushers, Gettleman loves pass rushers.
Indy at #3 also makes sense as they need a blue chip defensive player.

Barkley and Chubb are the 2 pieces that can swing this draft in a whole nother stratosphere. More so than the QB's, those 2 players will determine how this draft flows. Both could go anywhere from #1-#3 and make teams scramble.

This years draft is going to be fun and yet complex to watch.
FA, especially the FA QBs will dictate the first 5 choices in the draft.
Do the first 5 Drafting teams sign a FA QB before the draft?
and wont teams like the browns and jets be expected to do BOTH !
Giants, Both, Cards both,Broncos of course BOTH.
Vikings ?
1-4 QBs could go in the first 5 picks, all depending on what happens in free agency first.

"go after him"
not the same as signing him.
Not enough $$$ for JFE to woo the CUZ.

Cousins is a back-up. Let's only give him $20 mil.

I really doubt that Goodell would perform any action that wasn't sanctioned by at least the core power owners. It seems the worst thing that an owner can do is act independently and contrary to the wishes of the ownership majority.

We didn't low ball Manning, we offered a good contract to Broz (and would have matched Houston).

The article starts off like this "With the support of many N.F.L. owners...."

Ziggy Ansah got franchise-tagged, not that surprising given Detroit's lack of pass rushers, and lack of pass rushers on the FA market as well.

Never understood why so many thought they wouldn't tag him. He's their best D player or at least top 2 depending upon how you view others on their D.

I figured he'd get tagged. I'd probably say Slay is their best player on defense.

But considering all they have is Zettel and Hyder off an injury, it was pretty much a lock they'd tag him. Pass rushers dont grow on trees.

Slay was my guy in 2013. I said he was a top 40 pick early in the process and got laughed off the board by the usual suspects.
