I thought it read as "it would be significant because she would be the first female owner."

Edit: So I had to go and read it again, and you are right, I'm going to blame dyslexia, Khan and lifeblood.

She was named owner because her Husband died. She(Beth) would be named and chosen as the owner by an ownership group.

Georgia F. I'd say bringing a ring to St Louis was pretty big.

Georgia Frontiere. Georgia frontiere was not the first female NFL franchise owner.

From that statement, it sounds like Lawyers are already involved. Beth was probably advised to take it public.

I don’t know what the criteria or threshold is to get approval from the trustees, but if Beth has any case, it could get ugly real soon.

Same here, too much money involved. Throw in the prestige of the business as well as Pat's deteriorating health. The blood suckers have been circling for a while.

In the book, “The Making of Major League” by Jonathan Knight, the Rachel Phelps character was based on Georgia F. and a little bit of George Steinbrenner.

Pretty fascinating book with other interesting tidbits, if you are a big fan of the movie.

Yep, there are several parallels between the two. Georgia Frontiere was a singer/performer way back in the day, and I've heard that she was a topless dancer, just like Rachel Phelps in Major League. Frontiere was married several times, and she had worked her way onto the A-list party scene, where she met Carroll Rosenbloom, and then married him. Rosenbloom mysteriously dies, and Frontiere inherits the team. Phelps inherits the Indians after her husband dies. Phelps goes on to try to tank the team so that they can break the lease, and she can move the team to her hometown of Miami. Well, Frontiere fired Rosenbloom's son, who was being groomed to take over the team, the team was embarrassingly bad in Anaheim, and then she moves them to her hometown of St. Louis.

It's interesting that the Phelps character was based on Frontiere in the way that she got the team, but maybe the Phelps character in turn influenced Frontiere, because Major League came out five years before Frontiere moved the Rams to her hometown. lol

The book says the Phelps character was based on Georgia F/Steinbrenner but the story/plot came from the Minnesota Twins of the 80s, they had a cheap owner who almost moved the team to Florida.

I read through the thread so I might of missed it but one of the guidelines is to have worked in a NFL front office in an executive position or something like that, for 5 years. I think. The youngest daughter is still a ways off from that. She couldn't get control right now either probably. Only the drunk kid could meet approval but he doesn't meet the personal conduct standard I'm guessing.
