Chicago Bears give linebacker Danny Trevathan heartwarming surprise

On a Saturday afternoon with sports games galore, there’s no shortage of feel-good stories.

But this one, featuring the Chicago Bears’ Danny Trevathan, is particularly touching.

After learning that his grandmother, Dorothy McElroy, had never seen him play in Chicago because of her battle with cancer, the Bears decided to change that. At a team meeting, with Trevathan in the back of the huddle, head coach Matt Nagy had a surprise.

Cancer sucks....and this was a nice gesture on Chicago’s part.

Having said that, why wouldn’t Danny have made sure his grandma got to see him play in Chicago? It’s not like he couldn’t afford it. I mean if it meant that much to him for her to see him play in Chicago, why not pay for it yourself?

Maybe, Trevethan has always had injury problems. He has had injury problems in Chicago.

Yep. Can't wait to be rid of Marshall though.

Looks like Either Davis or Marshal will be gone next year. I imagine it will be Marshall.

We free up 5m by dumping Marshall. Only 3m from Davis vs 5m by letting him have one more year and then cutting him... unless of course we get CJ Mosley lol.

Danny Trevathan has been one of my favorite linebackers of the last 20 years. Great player. I don’t know why we didn’t keep him.

If I remember correctly his contract was due and Marshall still had a year or two left in his deal. If it was the other way around Marshall probably would have been gone in FA.

Broncos decided not to extend him.

Marshall has had coverage problems his whole career. Letting DT go was a BIG mistake.
