Default International Rugby League At Mile High

England played New Zealand at Mile High yesterday in Rugby League, did any of you on here (especially in Colorado) know it was happening? What was promotion for it like? Did you go? Or watch on tv? (It was live on CBS Sports Net)

Interested in finding out how it was perceived in Denver!

I would have had no idea it existed if I didn't run into a Brit at the gym yesterday who mentioned he was going.

Curious as to what the turnout was like.

Over 19,000 were the official numbers. It didnt look like there was more than 10 or 12,000. I would say their were a lot of no-shows. It was actually a very good game and you could actually hear the crowd gasp on some of the huge collisions and hits. The temperature and altitude made the conditions really tough but the standard and speed of the rugby was superb. Sam Burgess of England said it was the toughest first 20 minutes of any game he has ever played in terms of fatigue because of the altitude.

It was advertised somewhat heavily. I noticed a couple billboards, including large banners on the stadium. I think I recall some radio announcements. It certainly wasn't hyped or part of the buzz around town. It was a rugby game between two foreign nations during the football off-season while the only 2 major sports teams in CO have been busy disappointing the city.
I had a family picnic, otherwise I would have considered getting some tickets.
