Roll the dice at this point. Go for greatness. Walker won’t move the needle. Porter might.

Good move by the Nuggs. Worth the risk at 14 to shoot for greatness.

Yeah, if nothing else they got some value considering before the college last college basketball season started he was considered potentially the top pick in the draft. Unfortunately he's probably boom or bust, and the odds favor the latter.

Yep, but to me at 14 itís worth the role of the dice. No one else there is moving the needle if the goal is to win a title. Thereís a shot with Porter.

Plays no defense, and will probably be hurt his whole career. But, potential!

At 14, that normally what youíre looking at. Potential, or else a safe role player pick with no upside.

Hey they didn't need Mitchell last year. No room for him.

Whiffing on Mitchell is exactly why you take a shot on Porter now.

Porter just said the plan is to play in summer league. That's a good sign. Damn, if he's healthy...

Yeah that potential is best player in the draft tho. What were you expecting at 14?

FWIW I fractured my back in high school. I healed and have resumed sports and lifting with no problem.

I'm just sharing that a back injury doesn't always linger. It's very plausible that Porter's surgery corrected the problem permanently.

"All I can say is it's a blessing," Porter told ESPN after the selection. "I'm not entitled to this, everything's a blessing. And I'm so excited, you know, my path was different, a little different than everybody else's, but I'm gonna make sure that this pick, is this organizations best pick they've ever made.

Porter suffered a back injury two minutes into his first game for the Tigers and did not return until the SEC tournament. Before his injury, which required surgery, Porter was the second overall prospect, according to ESPN's Jonathan Givony.

I wanted Walker, who all sorts of analysts have pegged as having Donovan Mitchell type of upside. Not the guy who missed last year, and wasn't healthy enough to suit up for a workout last week. The history of 6'10'" guys overcoming back problems to have great sports careers isn't exactly long and distinguished. 12 teams passing on him despite supposed first pick in the draft talent isn't encouraging, but oh well. The pick's made, now all Nugs fans can do is hope that Malone can somehow make something cohesive out of this collection of jump-shooters who play zero defense.
