You think you're asking that rhetorically, but I'm convinced that married women everywhere pretty much do a defined cost/benefit analysis each and every time.

No? Probably not much of a choice, then.
I haven't met any gay men who I think ever made a choice.

I think homosexuality in women is completely different. Bull Dikes dress and act like men. I believe some women choose to be with other women due to lack of suitable male partners, or abuse from males.

Also, consider this...

There are three different isolated communities.
1. 100 men and 100 women live in a normal community.
2. 200 men live in a normal community without any women around ever.
3. 200 women live in a normal community without any men around ever.

The 1st community is the world today. The 2nd community would probably have a higher incidence of gay men than average, and the men would begin to kill each other. The 3rd community would probably become almost 100% gay, as the women would want to have an intimate partner.

I wonder if he can maintain respect if he's a catcher? Being the pitcher and he's not a heck of different than his teammates.

Yes, it does come down to choice and the GM's and owners will have to make a choice between a quality player like Sam and the sideshow he will bring to the team. I would like to be a fly on the wall when Elway positions Sam's name on the draft need board.

I'm not talking about women who try stuff for attention. I'm talking about a cross-section of humanity

I think homosexuality is produced by an abundance (or lack) of certain bodily chemicals that can actually change after birth due to a multitude of circumstances.

Kind of like depression, yet not nearly so easily malleable.

Some people are born with the right chemical make-up. Others achieve the right chemical make-up after certain circumstances trigger the body to produce it.

Some people are born gay, others are not. It's all about attraction. Certainly, sometimes circumstances can determine attraction.

Yeah, could be.

There is also the chromosome factor. Women are XX, and men are XY. Allegedly, the Y chromosome is degrading over time.

Also, could be all the estrogen in the water supply.

Sam's not the typical 4/5 rounder. He's the SEC defensive player of the year. Only one player who won this award was selected outside the top 33 picks. Sam fell 70 spots on CBS's draft board overnight after his announcement. This is totally based on the "experts" evaluating his sexual orientation. Who knows what the 32 teams really think, and which one will pull the trigger first. He's a steal in the 5th though.

I've seen 4th-5th round projections that predated his announcement. I haven't seen one that had him earlier than the 3rd.

This story is two days old, and I am already beyond tired of it.

In ten years, it will seem ridiculous that this was even a story. That ten years can't happen fast enough, IMO.

Yes, you could ride into town on your trusty burro and turn part of the town heterosexual again instantly.

How much of the town you turn, depends on your skill.

That's about right. He's like Dumervil. He's a great college player, not a hidden late round gem. Everybody that follows college football knew about them. Both of them were expected to slide in the draft because they're too small. CBS projected Sam as a late 3rd rounder (90) and dropped him to 160 after his announcement.

In ten years, it will seem silly that there was so much discussion about who a person chooses to sleep with.

You're still hurting inside over the coin flip thing, aren't you!

DomCasual riding into Diketown.

The dwellings made of mud and straw. The inhabitants would be lithe, primarily vegetarian, topless, and in beaded skirts. Upon arrival, a sense of calm and excitement would descend over the land.

You forgot the flowers. I would have flowers.

I would take many to be my wives.

I don't know if this is the right thread, but Colorado QB Connor Wood transferred out, while QB Jaleel Awini transferred in.

So we lost Wood, but gained Awini.

Too soon?

Michael Sam's draft profile. According to this article, 'his stiffness is readily apparent'.

Denying a persons humanity is still wrong, admitting one's own prejudices and biases is a start but acting on them is never right. Your example is just another, in the words of Clarence Thomas, "high-tech lynching" by mob rule on homosexuals. Common discriminatory beliefs still doesn't make it right or acceptable. Miscegenation, e.g.

Michael Sam’s Father Disagrees with Son’s Lifestyle

Last Tuesday, Michael Sam Sr. was at a Denny’s near his home outside Dallas to celebrate his birthday when his son sent him a text message.

Dad, I’m gay, he wrote.

The party stopped cold. “I couldn’t eat no more, so I went to Applebee’s to have drinks,” Sam Sr. said. “I don’t want my grandkids raised in that kind of environment.

“I’m old-school,” he added. “I’m a man and a woman type of guy.” As evidence, he pointed out that he had taken an older son to Mexico to lose his virginity.

On Sunday night, just after Michael Sam announced his intention to make sports history, his father was still struggling with the news.

Sam Sr. loves his son, and he said he hoped his son made it to the N.F.L. “As a black man, we have so many hurdles to cross,” he said. “This is just one he has to cross.”

But he expressed discomfort at the very idea of a gay N.F.L. player, even if the player was his son. He grumbled that Deacon Jones, the Hall of Fame defensive end renowned for his toughness, “is turning over in his grave.”
