Thank heavens for the US Women's soccer team. 3x World Champions. Ready to defend. And not embarrass the US.

At least not on the field. They generally save that for their "off the field" activities.

Hence... the play in game.

And is that true? I thought if we tied, we'd get through on goal differential.

Well, it doesn't matter.

It might just be for the better.... If they would of made it to the WC, the outcome wouldn't of been good. They would of never made it out of group stage and earned zero points with a goal differential of -8.

That's correct. If we had merely tied, then we were in.

If Honduras or Panama had both lost we were in.
If Honduras or Panama had both tied we were in.
If Honduras either Honduras or Panama had lost or tied we were in the play-in game.

The only way to miss was:

1. Lose to ****ing Trinidad and Tobago. Population 1.3 million.
2. Have both Honduras and Panama win.

At half time yesterday, despite being down 2-0, we were going to be in.
In the 89th minute we were at least in the play-in game.

****.

Regardless, maybe this will force folks to actually fix **** with how our whole program is structured. Cause it's been horribly broken since the 90's. MLS has just made the problem worse.

Because the raw talent is there. We have a young generation of players that can compete at the world level. We won't win much in 2022 (although we should qualify for christs sake), but watch out in 2026 when you have players like Pulisic, Wood, and Brooks in their prime along with some real talented young players (Adams, Carter-Vickers, Perez, and maybe even Zelalam).

Future looks bright, but man this sucks today.

Spot on.

I'd add Matt Miazga to that list. Young player overseas..

WTF ever happened to Julian Green. I swear every time i watched him on the national team i've thought... there's just something diff about that guy. he's really creative with the ball. Then he had that amazing PS with Bayern, and went back into club obscurity.

Hard to say without actually watching practice. He hasn't performed in games against top talent, i'd guess his size has something to do with it.

I always felt he looked good when he got on the field. Hard to say re: club cause I never really watched him, and I agree his size is a detriment, but he can actually create by himself... which we severely lack outside of Pulisic. Plus, he had that dynamite WC goal.

Not true. Tie we were straight in

We would have been in the playoff with a loss if either Honduras or Panama had lost or tied

I don't agree with everything, but we definitely need more sports hosts to call out US Soccer.

Nah...you want them in the WC, even if they get roasted. We would still be complaining with and what is wrong with USMNT, but at least they made the big dance.

As someone has mentioned, this sets back the sport in America from youth to geezers. Five years until the next is a long time

I don't know. Maybe this will finally wake up those on top. Get a real manager. Fix the youth soccer system. Finally develop world class players.

I don't want to hear this **** about our top athletes playing other sports. We don't need them. We need players with great vision and good coordination. We don't need the Lebron James, Von Miller or Adrian Peterson to play soccer. Just look at Pulisic who is 5'8" 140lbs. His talent comes from classroom, training and dedication from a young age. Yes it would be nice if he was 6'1" 190 and can outrun a horse, but its not mandatory.

The fact that Miazga wasn't even considered for the central back was ridiculous. I know he was on the Gold Cup roster, but then again with all the roster changes who wasn't. He did have a goal late in group play. But that's besides the point. The guy plays over in Europe. Why he wasn't on the roster is beyond me. Could he have been any worse than what we had? Anyone here think he puts on a bad clearance to score an OG? Highly unlikely. He's plenty talented.

I'm super disappointed as many of you are with the US program. They can wipe out every suit in the organization for all I care. All the way down to every coach. I'd like to see a guy like Ramos in there, but maybe there's someone even better that can steer the future...There's a lot of talent in the younger teams that will be exciting to watch in the years to come.

This just the worst team I've watched since I started watching the US in '94. And more than disappointing it's absolutely embarrassingwhen you consider resources and the size of our nation.

Forgive my ignorance but how has MLS made the USMNT worse? I know the arguments about collegiate ball but not really the pros.

With a country of 325+ million there's bound to be a diamond in the rough.

I do hear and agree with what you're saying. Top to bottom there is a problem for USMNT
