So much for the theory that you need that all elusive "franchise QB" to attract the top coaches & FA's. AZ is really dysfunctional and have no direction. All they did is do the trendy thing, and most likely, will be doing it again in a couple of years.

I think you define "decent" differently than anyone else.

Surprised the Cardinals love the Broncos trash. Didn’t learn from the McCoy disaster, apparently.

To be fair, both are going to be holding positions lower than what they had in Denver.

The thing is, their defense was not the problem last year considering the talent. They really should have given Wilks one more year, and just tried to find a competent OC that would be a fit for Rosen. Now they are blowing it all up, and starting over again. I have no ill-will for VJ, but if he screws up the defensive side again, he may never get another chance at DC again

Well he is at least going somewhere where the expectations are low. We really don't know how good a DC he is because we can't tell much from that one year in Miami, but that was really the point wasn't it? How did someone with so little co-ordinator experience get to take the reins? I wish him well and hope he does Ok - he may actually be able to be a good DC - lord knows that must be his ceiling as he's proved he's not HC material.....

Sorry, when I said "both" I was referring to VJ going from HC in Den to DC in AZ, and Woods going from DC in Den to whatever he's doing in AZ (D-backs probably). I wasn't clear on that.

interesting comment about the browns...
go back to the BB days with the browns and check out the list of young coaches on that staff and how they ended up, though thier time together in Clevland was less then successful.

That's a question for Elway, but to be fair, VJ had other interviews lined up if he wasn't offered the Broncos job, so he wasn't really an unknown. I love Elway, but I believe his ego really got in the way of good common sense here. With the Fangio hire, it appears he learned his lesson on that. Likewise, I think Elway has learned a hard lesson on Paxton Lynch also.

Woods is a solid DB coach, but needs a different mentor to get another chance at DC.

I live in AZ, and on the local sports forum I regularly visit, posters are acting like they just hired Wade Phillips... I'm guessing solely because someone who shall not be named was clowned into hiring VJ as a head coach once.

Oh yeah, and they are all similarly ignorant of the fact that his one year stint as a DC was also a blatant failure.

Are they also excited about having a head coach who has never worked in the NFL and had a losing record in college? Likely they are suffering from FDS (fan delusion syndrome). Certainly there are many sufferers of that condition around here.
