Exactly. Some folks just donít get it. Why would you need Lawrence when you can just get a Keesum? As long as Garyís in charge.

Yep. Thatís what really sticks in my craw. Kubiak as OC is more Ďmehí for
me than anything, but the cronyism is just gross.

I can only speak for myself, but my trepidation comes from that fact that Kubiak tends to be a scheme over talent guy. He tends to tailor his talent to the scheme rather than tailoring the scheme to the talent.

In the best of situations, I'm not a fan of the approach. It forces you to narrow your search when attempting to acquire talent to specific skill sets that best fit with your system. But, I am especially wary of it in the current NFL where so many offensive players coming into the NFL are using a completely different system than what Kubiak employs. Best case scenario, offensive players are lot less usefull the first couple of years while they relearn how to play football, worse case scenario, we completely squander draft picks by forcing them to play against type.

For example, back during the 2011 draft, I was actually pretty unhappy with the Von Miller pick at number 2 overall. I was unhappy because he was listed as a Strong Side Linebacker and we were transitioning back to a 4-3 defense. I was expecting them to force him into the traditional Strong Side Linebacker role, focusing on covering slot recievers and tight-ends, while maintaining contain responsibilities and stopping the run. Forcing Von into that traditional role would have completely squandered his value. That is my worry with Kubiak if we draft a QB in the first round this year.

The biggest question in the interview process (the whole world could see it) was How do you feel as Gary as your OC? Of course you get a first time HC and I bet his salary will be among the lowest.

Not happy with this but above is what I'm praying for. Right after my prayers to keep Dennison as far away from Denver as possible. Hopefully Kubiak is better on the offense than he was in 2015 and 16.

Iím gonna get some heat from my fellow realists(pessimists according to homers) but Iím not hating this and am growing to like it(been preparing myself since the story that Kubiak wanted to OC again). Fangio is up and down better than VJ. I am hoping Kubiak can evolve a bit. Heís not stupid. All his time to one aspect can IMO have a different affect on the plays itself.

Right now Iím just glad VJ Musgrave and woods are gone.

I'm okay with it because the success comes down to the QB anyway. I'm waiting to see what they do there.

I don't think we have enough information to clown on the new OC news. We don't really know how Fangio feels about Kubiak. Maybe he loves him. Maybe he doesn't. We don't really know if Kubiak will change or not. Maybe it will be crazy maybe it will be terrible 1997 offense all over again.

I agree that it isn't that inspiring, and that a sexy cool young OC would seem better - but I'm not ready to proclaim Trevor Lawrence or bust yet. I don't really think the Broncos have the personnel to run a fancy schamncy offense like KC. KC has speed to burn on the outside, a great TE, and clearly a QB who can execute that scheme. Aside from Linsday, Denver's offense does not scream spread offense, RPO, speed concepts everywhere.

I just hope that they are trying to innovate with the personnel they have and its too early to know in January, 8 months before the next snap we see. A spread offense with cortland sutton running jet sweeps and keenum trying fling 50 yd lasers downfield just isn't going to work. Denver's offense will probably be at its best next year in a more traditional sense, solid run game and play action IMO.

I really don't understand the assumption that Kubiak can't evolve. He has had many years of success in the NFL on offense. That didn't happen because he's dumb and doesn't understand how the game works.

Cautiously, cautiously optimistic on this development. Kubiak is undoubtedly a great offensive mind but his offensive system is unnecessarily verbose and difficult to learn. If he's actually taken a page from the Sean McVay/Josh McDaniels playbook and simplified the terminology, I will feel more confident.

Kubiak's gonna run the spread....

I think this is an okay move (I'm going to assume that Taylor was "HC or stay"). One of the things I like about Kubes is that he's able to get the most out of QBs - Plummer, Siemian and Brock here in Denver, Schaub in Houston. I think we can safely lay a lot of the blame for the offense the last few years at the feet of our GM, but a nice infusion of talent last year helps. That said, I still hope we draft a QB (Haskins, please) and Keenum takes a pay cut and remains the backup.

So when it was potentially Harbaugh a lot of people were OK with Kubes.

Now that it's Fangio a lot of people are not ok with Kubes.

Regardless, the 2012 Ravens offense was different than the 2015-16 Broncos so I think the guy will do different looks. He just can't handle the stress of being the game day coach.
