Smith does not turn 24 until December and will be able to hit free agency again by the time he is 32. Smith is considered a prototype left tackle with his athleticism and strength and was selected as a second-team All-Pro in 2013.

No wonder he couldn't keep Ware around.

Tyron is worth that, one of the best LT's in the league.

10 years, 109 mil with his last 2 years, a little over 10 mil a year.

Fair deal.

Ware supposedly dominated Smith in camp last year before pulling his quad. He still has something left in the tank.

No more Topps football cards in 2016. First time since the 1950's. Panini dropped $200m for the 10 year exclusive rights.

That is pretty huge but I take my kids into the card shop and they now have exclusive deals for just one company to be able to show logos. I understand the market was saturated with millions of cards but there is really no competition out there.

Wow....as a kid I was really into collecting cards.

I was into it until the late 90s and finally, I stopped collecting, although I still have my entire collection.

The card market became too saturated with garbage and gimmicks.

I have an incredible collection of John Elway cards. A lot of rare cards, autographed cards, jersey cards, etc....

I think I have 18 mint/excellent condition Elway rookie cards.

I have a lot of old football cards, some from the 60s, but a lot of awesome cards from the 70s/80s.

I was born in 1972 and got into collecting when I was very young, probably 1979 or 1980, but I was only 7 or 8 then. I started really getting into it and tried to take good care of my cards starting in the early 80s.

I used to buy a lot of older cards at garage sales and things like that when I was a kid and that's how I got a lot of my cards from the 60s/70s.

The market is still ****ed up for cards. If I ever got back into collecting, it would be to go back and simply collect all the Denver Broncos cards in the 60s/70s/80s that I'd need to complete team sets for all of those seasons.

The Denver Broncos used to have a giant collection of Broncos player cards from all of their seasons displayed in their team store at the stadium. I haven't been there for a while, do they still have all those cards on display?

I saw a stat today that newly inducted Hall of Fame offensive tackle Walter Jones, who played 12 seasons with the Seattle Seahawks (1997-2008), only allowed 9 holding penalties and 23 sacks for his entire career.

They do not. I recently bought my son his first binder and box set of cards and he was disappointed with the amount of broncos cards he got so we went to the team store to see if they sold broncos cards and all they had was a pretty generic 2013 team set that somehow included Willis McGehee..

It seems like he was always overshadowed by Ogden, Pace, and even Roaf. Probably because seattle didn't have fans till a few years ago, but when you go back and see plays like this it is hard to disagree.

I haven't heard of this yet, players will be electronically tracked with sensors in their shoulder pads for now on so the nerds can maddenize the game more.

So how does everyone like their brats? Can't have a bratwurst without some curry sauce IMHO. Currywurst is the bees knees.

I hope this doesn't end up like the Madden deal. That was pure BS and the 2K series was far superior and cheaper.

Indeed, dude was a beast. Didn't get his due nearly as much as he should have during his career.

Now this will be truly interesting to see.
Quote:
Look for more defensive holding calls: Leavy said he felt the most impactful rule change will be the calling of illegal contact and defensive holding.

According to the new rules, defenders cannot initiate contact with receivers after 5 yards downfield when the quarterback is in the pocket with the ball.

Leavy told us that NFL brass does not want jersey pulls and tugs from defensive players on offensive players. So if referees see jersey pulls, they are supposed to call it. Leavy said referees used to factor in whether or not the jersey pull impeded the receiver. But now officials cannot factor that into whether or not they will throw a flag.

As a result, expect to see a lot more defensive holding and illegal contact calls during preseason play. Defensive holding is a 5-yard penalty and automatic first down. Illegal contact also is a 5-yard penalty and automatic first down.

Officials also have been told to watch receivers pushing off at the top of the route to gain advantage. That call will result in offensive pass interference, a 10-yard penalty.

Mike Pereira, former vice president of officiating for the NFL and now a rules analyst for Fox Sports, said via Twitter that the last time the league had this rule as a point of emphasis in 2004, the number of illegal contact fouls went from 79 to 191.

The new rules should affect aggressive defenses like Seattle and Kansas City that play a lot of press coverage. But it also can have an impact on veteran cornerbacks like Brandon Flowers and Richard Marshall, who both use physicality to redirect receivers during the route.
