This show should've ended after the third season.

I tend to agree. Is it still entertaining in a "guilty pleasure" kind of way? Sure. Is the story advancing towards anything meaningful at this point? Probably not. Has the acting/writing ever been anything to get excited about? Generally speaking, no.

That said, I'm still watching, so I guess the joke's on me...

Dude, no such thing as too much zombies. Every time I hear sirens and see helicopters circling IRL, my first thought is, "This is how it begins."

I agree, I watched season 4 and that was one to many. Haven't seen an episode since. I have nothing against the show and really liked it initially but the endless filler episodes killed it for me.

This show just tries to emotionally manipulate you without good writing. I'm 7 seasons in, so I'm stuck watching it.

Unfortunately its devolution into crap wasn't so fast that I didn't waste time on it for a few more seasons.

How strange -- not a single mention of friends watching TWD on my fb timeline tonight. And it's the first time we've ever simply forgotten to set the DVR to record TWD while we watched the end of the late NFL game. Guess that's what happens when tv series show a few episodes and then take a lengthy hiatus -- viewers forget when/if they're on.

The ratings suggest TWD is having no problem getting viewers. And if you set up a season pass when you first start watching a series there's no reason to "set the DVR".

I liked last nights episode. The scene with Eziekeal (sp) and Carol was really good. The CGI Tiger ...ugh not so much.

I thought last night was pretty good. But I think they've basically ruined Carol as a character at this point. Nothing she does makes any sense anymore. They decided late last season they urgently needed her to leave, then they decided they had to urgently change her personality to make her need to urgently leave. What's left is a character with no apparent motivation other than an urgent need to leave.

I enjoyed the first couple of episodes this season and feel like things are moving along again.

I suspect that Carol will eventually get sorted out and then go on another Rambo-like killing rampage.

Carol is a mess but she still can switch her character as needed. Everyone needed this episode and smart way to set it up. With some shock and disappointment still in the air, we needed a new angle. This group has some bad asses and obviously when it comes to take on Negan's group, they will be part of it. I am sure there are 10 groups out there needed to feed Negan's tribe so if they find out about each other, there will be numbers and the element of surprise. I would love for it to be just like George Washington surprising the British on Christmas.

Carol is a full-blown nihilist... what humans were before society, morals, and religion.

Eziekeal had the perfect response when she asked him why he cared about her:

"Because it makes me feel good."

That is the true driver of everything people do. Carol was trying to bait him into a moral answer so she could tell him nothing matters. There is no right or wrong. Once upon a time, humans gathered and decided on codes and behavior that made life better. I wish we would remember that. Nowadays right and wrong is ingrained in us from birth. It isn't presented to us as an option or something to consider before you agree to it. Skipping those layers creates bias, racism, sexism, political wars, culture wars, religious wars, etc.

If Carol's personality stayed the same, she would have been caught up with the RV gang. This is much better for the show as they can break off story lines as we saw on Sunday.

This was a really good filler episode. Only saw 2 main characters, met an entire new settlement, learned multiple new characters' backstories and even cut through the bull**** of the settlement...all in 1 episode! If this story line occurred in season 2 or 3, we would have been looking at 4 episodes to figure all this s*** out.

Looks like the writers have figured out how to give us a useful filler episode. Either that or they are forced to jam it all together due to the very limited number of episodes remaining in the series.

Which could be just fine: 1 episode where we learn the entire extent of Negan's operation, history and camp set up as well as his plans for Darrell.

Now if it drags over the course of 3 episodes, sprinkled in with shots of Maggie crying and Rick & Co. brooding...then we're going to have a problem.
