I checked out the Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska, a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to Wikipedia, Deripaska does not fit the stereotype of corrupt oligarch -- or thug -- anything but.

The guy is a nuclear physicist -- and appears to have pursued a very ambitious career path that took him far due to motivation and hard work. Deripaska has also been outspoken about the need to address climate change -- not what you would expect given the narrative being peddled by the US media.

We Americans truly have been betrayed. But not by Trump. I loathe Trump -- but the real security threat now is coming from our so called intelligence (sic) community -- at any rate, the portion of it that cooked up the Russia-gate collusion scam.

It appears they are preparing to remove Trump in a coup -- given that impeachment would probably fail due to lack of evidence. If impeachment failed it would backfire against the Democrats -- leading to a second Trump term.

Is this why the Washington Post is printing inflammatory op-eds calling for Trump's removal for being a traitor?

We are collectively facing a planetary crisis because of what is happening in the Arctic. We could be on the verge of a methane emergency -- a catastrophic blowout of methane into the atmosphere due to the warming of the Arctic Sea and the retreat of summer ice. Huge deposits of frozen methane along the continental shelf of Russia have been destabilized. If this happens it's game over.

Global warming -- not Putin -- is the problem. It won't be reversed without cooperation with Russia. So why is the US media smearing one of the key figures, i.e. Deripaska, the man who's help we badly need to address the problem?

The US press has betrayed us -- and the earth.

You didn't "loathe" Trump a couple of months ago. You were supporting him when he went to Helsinki and kissed Putin's ass. In fact, most of your posts sound like they were written by the Russian chamber of commerce, you love your Russians (and Putin) so much. Russia is not going to do anything about climate change. Besides, America (under Trump) is already cooperating with Russia. They are cooperating (with Saudi Arabia as well) in trying to kill any action.

Trump is doing whatever Putin wants, to include trying to get sanctions lifted and pulling the USA out of NATO.

I am an old Nader-ite. I supported JFK, Bernie, Kucinich and even Ron Paul.

I watched how the Dems betrayed Bernie, then worked with the intelligence spooks Clapper, Brennan and Comey to frame Trump, from day one of his presidency.

Russia-gate is a scam that's wasted two years -- and has set us up for WW III - -when we should be developing better relations with other nations to reverse global warming.

You are an ideologue. I am a pragmatist. You wallow in hate - - instead of proposing solutions.

The Pentagon budget is our biggest problem -- not Russia.

Thereís so much crazy in this post I donít even know where to begin. Iím not sure whatís a crazier theory, that Russiagate is all a silent coup to remove Trump and ensure that climate change kills us all (WTF? ), or that Trump and Mueller are on the verge of exposing Hillaryís global pedophile ring. Probably yours, but itís awfully close.

You're an anti-Semitic Putin troll and nutjob who believes in every conspiracy that reaches your ears. The "solution" for Trump is to impeach him and throw him and his family in jail for the crimes they have committed. Trump has a 70 year history. You should read about it. Get your head out of your ass. He's been a liar, a crook, a con-artist, a slum landlord and a rip-off scammer his entire life, just like his daddy. Every business he engaged in was a scam and went bankrupt. He's been sued thousands of times for refusing to pay lawful debts. Nobody is "framing" Trump. He has already framed himself with his own actions and his own lies.

What's behind Russia-gate? Answer: the threat of peace.

The US military industrial complex has grown to $1 Trillion/ year -- when you add in all of the peripherals not usually included in the Pentagon budget. moneys to the CIA and other intelligence agencies, homeland security, the veterans programs foreign aide etc

Why are we spending this obscene amount -- designed for death and destruction -- when our greatest security threat is global warming -- not Russia, China, Iran or any other state?

Why does the US media hardly ever talk about the environmental issue?

The media is 98% owned by the same folks who own the war machine. They need enemies to justify the bloated military spending. Trump wanted to thaw relations with Russia, hence the rationale for Russia-gate.

We owe Russia-gate to the gang of four: Clapper, Brennan, Comey and a Mr Rogers from the NSA.

Clapper was personally involved in the lying about Iraqi WMDs before the 2003 attack on Iraq. That makes him a war criminal.

Brennan gave us Abu Graib - -the US torture apparatus. Which makes him too a war criminal.

Welcome to the new world order.

W*gs started a thread about climate change -- yet does seem to understand that without cooperation from the Russians (and everyone else) - we will fail to reverse global warming.

What nation includes the largest portion of the Arctic? (Three guesses.)

Your entire premise is flawed. When has Trump (much less any other Republican) ever advocated for cutting military spending? The only spending he wants to cut is the U.S.ís contributions to NATO so his master Putin can have free reign in Europe! And do you think Trump actually gives a rats ass about climate change or the environment? He called climate change a Chinese hoax. His administration has gutted the EPA! He pulled out of the Paris accords! Ah, must be Trump playing 3D chess again with those kinds of machinations. You and Taco should get together for a beer sometime and exchange notes!!!

Free reign in Europe? What does that mean? The only threat Russia poses to Europe today is as a trading partner. The US has gone to great lengths to block commerce between Russia and Germany - -which are natural trading partners. Germany needs Russia's energy resources and Russia needs Germany's products. But the US regards this kind of relationship as a threat...to US control over Europe. This is why the US pushed for the creation of the EU. Its much easier to control one umbrella entity than 19 separate governments.

The US wants Europe to buy US gas exports -- but Russia offers a much better price.

Trump is brain dead regarding the environment, but his proposed thaw with Russia would have been good first step toward the kind of peace we need to address global warming.

How did the Democrats react? By attacking Trump from the right! This is insanity.

Anyone expecting anything *other* than the most pro-Putin[*] takes or spin on anything from der traitor gaffo-troll is going to be disappointed.

He's the same kind of person who rationalized Stalin's engineered famines, gulags, and show trials.

* - I say "pro-Putin", not "pro-Russia", because the biggest victims of Putin's thugocracy are the Russian people.
