There are two tags, franchise and transition.

The cap will continue to grow, thus contracts will.

And yes, we will still reach the cap floor.

It's funny how people assume that if a contract is 5 years 100 mil, every year the cap hit is 20 mil.

No, probably cut by Year 4 of the deal depending how he ages.

It's other way around actually.

It's 21+ mil this year then 15 mil, then in the 12-13 mil range the last 4 years i believe.

It's 12.5-13 until 2020-2021 it jumps a little but the cap could be 200 mil by then for all we know.

I'd be surprised if next year isn't his last year in Denver. We committed long term to Chris Harris, and spent a first round pick on Roby. This is likely Peyton's last year, then the team should look to move some vets. A $3 million cap hit is pretty minimal.

Similar situation with Ware imo.

Unless Talib sucks badly, I doubt he is cut in the next two years. His $10M a year will be peanuts compared to what big name guys to come will get. '17 seems realistic if they aspire to keep Roby beyond his rookie deal.

this is all ridiculous. Demaryius is a bona-fide star, a guy with no off-field baggage, a guy who dictates how defenses play the Broncos. He is the best player on the Broncos offense.

Pay the man, he's earned it.

If another team signs Demaryius Thomas to offer sheet, Broncos shouldn’t match http://www.itsalloverfatman.com/bron...shouldnt-match

Probably a moot point, since I can't imagine any team doing this. But agree that if it did happen the Broncos should let him go.

Nope. Just Omane capologists in general. Guess waste so much brain space worrying about the cap, contracts and other stuff that they really don't have enough info on.

As long as Sullivan is on top of it we don't have to worry about fitting players.

Exactly they can structure contracts however they want.

strongly disagree. DT is a star now. You don't trade a star for a couple of cogs, or a couple of could-be stars.

No one is doubting DT's talent, but i understand not wanting to pay a WR that kind of money unless he's like Randy Moss in his prime.

I'd totally take two 1st rounders for DT instead of paying him 15+ million a year. That's a no-brainer.

that's true, but it all depends on how it's structured.

Bowe is an anchor because his production doesn't match his salary, but he has so much dead money that he can't be reasonably moved. That's a problem that KC is dealing with. I don't believe Elway would allow a contract like that, and I believe DT's production will match.

In the era of an ever-inflating salary cap, players are going to be getting paid big money. I'm not all concerned about how big the contract is.

I think maybe I value first round picks a lot less than some of you guys.

Toward the end of the 2010s 15M will be the standard. When last years WR class comes up for FA they'll push the numbers closer to 20M while QBs will be at 25+.

This brings up a good point. Where those 1st rounders are makes a big difference. I'd match the offer if it was the Pats because their picks are worth ****.

We need to pay DT, if for no other reason than just to do right by our players.

He's been playing at an All-Pro level for 3 straight years (w/o any off the field issues, btw) for chump change.

It doesn't make any sense to bring in people like Talib and Ware and (arguably) over pay for them and not pay our homegrown talent.

He deserves his money and we should pay him.

BTW, teams don't get better by trading star players for picks that may (or may not) turn out to be half as good as the player they're trading away.
