It was a very uneasy and uncomfortable show. Not to sound like a hippie or anything but there was a very bad vibe happening there that night. A lot of people were stoned, some apparently just came out to mess with Anton (to relive some scenes in Dig! or something) and the place was not only sold out, but oversold, so there was absolutely no personal space to be had anywhere. In spite of all this, I would go see them again in a minute. Plenty of clips from the show have made their way to You Tube, but nothing really notorious. Another bit from the show in Cleveland |

![]() just picked up the newest Jamie foxx, and also started listening to Yael Naim.
SHE has a beautiful voice. There's this song called paris...don't know what she's saying (i think she's speaking hebrew), but with a sound like that I would be happy to let her sing me to sleep every night. I think I'm in love http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6R2y_2zQ4_w |

![]() Have you ever heard the "She's the One" soundtrack? They do the whole thing. My favorite Petty album by far. The key ingredient is Rick Ruben produces it.

![]() The Kinks Picture Book
I've always been kinda neither here or there when it came to The Kinks and this 6 CD box set gives me all that I really need before Davies really starts to get on my nerves (Well, truth to be told, I may go on to get the Village Green). |

![]() I love the Kinks. In my opinion, they were superior to the Beatles and their other British Invasion contemporaries. A lot of the Beatles stuff, such as Sgt. Peppers, sounds a bit dated with the psychedelia and goofy lyrics. Davies was a master melody maker and the working class lyrics were superb. They never got their just due in the US partly because the lyrics were very much grounded in a British working class aesthetic. But these albums are essential and at least as good as anything the Beatles put out: We Are The Village Green Preservation Society, Face to Face, Something Else By The Kinks, Muswell Hillbillies, and the sublime singles collection The Kink Kronikles.

![]() ![]() Just got back from watching WATT. Mike Watt, that is. He still has the same strength, power, and dexterity that he has always had. Great stuff. Probably the best show I've seen since the Pixies. Last time I saw Watt, he was doing the "...Engine Room" tour (which is an all-time fave of mine...beautiful stuff, really). For this one, I expected alot of Watt's solo stuff, but instead we got a bunch of Minutemen and fIREHOSE. He has a couple of really talented players with him on this tour and they have a great chemistry (how could you not have great chemistry with Watt?) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ydz4yF9Ny0M http://www.hootpage.com/ |

![]() Headed to NYC early tomorrow morning with Judine. Tomorrow night, we'll see Allan Holdsworth at the Iridium Club, then a restaurant called Del Posto Sunday night that she alleges is good.
Monday night back to the Iridium to see Les Paul. |
