The Broncos are considering cutting Talib their perennial pro bowler to save 11mil, now you want to cut Paxton to give up 4.5 of the 11? That doesn't make sense. Paxton being cut would be more of a negative than if he is on the roster. Even if he takes up a roster spot.

Ummmm. He's not taking anything less than what Jimmy G signed for.

That was my question. What's Paxton's cap charge if he's still on the team?

He needs to be included in a deal like when the texans unloaded OZ to the browns.

Cutting Talib saves 11 mil vs paying him 12. Cutting CJ saves 4.5 mil vs paying him 4.5 mil. Cutting Lynch costs us 4.45 mil vs paying him 2.8...

Not cutting Lynch nor trading him.
I know, I know, you are about to complain about me speaking in absolutes again.

No, I was asking a question that you answered. So, his cap charge doubles if we get rid of him?

What a horrible waste of space that guy is.

It will be more guarantee and a higher full term price.
90 -100 mill guarantee.
5 year 125-130 total, minimum.

you don't know that. Again, there are reports out there from those who know Cousins stating he would take a discount if it was an ideal situation.

It sucks, right? Gotta keep the turd so we don't toss 4.45 in cap space down the tubes. I hope they throw stuff at him during practice.

Left the "5" of the 2.58

His signing bonus is almost 1.3 mil per season on the cap, if he's cut or traded that total comes due on the cap immediately.
His actual salary is just over 1.31 mil, the bonus boosts it to 2.58 mil.
It's cheaper to keep him.

If someone is willing to give up real value for him, I'd trade him in a heart beat. So basically, giving him away would cost us 1.8 more or so (per Sleeping Tiger's #)? Thats probably not worth a 7th rounder, but if some jackass wanted to give us a 3?

Its a sad state of affairs when your FRDC QB has as his greatest atribute, his lower cost as a wasted roster spot, and far too expensive to release.
says a lot about not only our selection process but our player compensation, as well.
front office elway got some 'splainin' to do.

The Broncos have an internal budget, they are not going to give away cap space unless he turns into Montee Ball or something.

Only the top 51 contracts count for cap purposes, certain incentives don't count against the cap, real cash vs cap hit, dummy years can be added onto deals to prorate the cap hit of the signing bonus...

It's actually cheaper for the Broncos to keep him, rather than trade or cut him.

Same people who thought Siemian could be a franchise QB last year, want him on the roster this year. Brilliant.

They have a cash budget. Unless they are actually paying Lynch out (which I don't believe they are), whats the diff.

Meh, I never thought he could be a "franchise QB", but I thought when he looked good, he looked pretty good.

But after seeing when he looked bad, he looked very very bad; I was finally ready for a real QB.. Too bad we still don't have one.
