I love seeing the keg levels! What a great site! I see Nashville regularly listed as an underrated craft beer city

Grats on the big life change Khan, glad it's working for you. If you're ever inspired to do a craft beer road trip (and exploit the horrific value of the Canadian dollar) I recommend Vancouver Island, that place is all about craft beer these days.

Brass tacks though, I need to know about this magic underwear.

If you're looking for something lighter, one of my current favorites is the Eight Second Kolsch by Elevation Brewing. Crisp and delicious.

We moved from Boulder to Nashville about 4 years ago and I've seen this place go from 5 breweries in 2012 to 21 currently.

It still blows me away when I go back to Colorado and how much has changed in the beer scene.

One piece of advice for you Kaylor. Pick up a couple of books. Tasting Beer by Randy Mosher, and Beer in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. This industry can be a hell of a lot of fun, and a really cool hobby. But its good to know its history.

I spend about 60 hours a week immersed in everything beer, and I learn something new every single day. Craft Beer will be something that will give you lots of joy. But one request from a brewer to a new found beer nerd, go easy on the ratings, its easy to bash a brewer/brewery. What they will love more than anything else is a quick little email about how much you love what they do.

Ballast point was just sold for a hefty penny to a huge conglomerate that loves destroying competition.

Yeah those were the days! I have one day a week when I drink. I've been drunk twice and don't plan to repeat it. That's why I do drink I try to make it something tasty and enjoyable.

I was just going to recommend Elevation Beer Company. Went to Crested Butte last weekend for skiing and stopped halfway in Poncha Springs. Great little brewery, with some just awesome offerings in the tap room. Their First Cast IPA is spectacular, and their barrel aged stuff is marvelous.

Cracked a bottle of Oil Man I'd had in the fridge when we beat New England in the AFCCG. That was just wonderful.

Best brewery in Denver right now, IMO, is Diebolt Brewing in Sunnyside (39th and Mariposa). The Commodore, a bourbon barrel aged stout, is my favorite beer of the moment.

The left hand milk stout is very nice actually, it even makes it over to this side of the Atlantic.

For decent Stouts and porters keep your eye out for some of the better Irish exponents (no, not that one);
Porterhouse brewing have a bar in New York so you may be able to get some in the US. My favourite of theirs is Wrasslers, closely followed by Plain and the Oyster stout is nice and smooth.
O'Haras also do a very nice stout called Leann Follain and their standard stout is nice too. I think they have pretty good international distribution, so youo never know.
Some great Ales and IPAs over here too, but you guys are pretty ahead of the game on those styles.

You guys are very lucky with the craft / micro movement in the US. In fact I had some tasty Odells in for the Superbowl based on recommendations from this forum.
But, there are plenty of great beers from Europe to try if you see them. Obviously Belgium is well known, but UK and Ireland doing some good work too.

Kaylore, what are you looking to get out of this thread? Just craft beer discussion, do you want brewery suggestions, style suggestions, etc?

I don't post a lot here as I generally don't have the Broncos knowledge/opinions the rest of you do. But I do know craft beer, so I could lend some suggestions here.

Beav wants a simple 5 or 6 ingredient porter recipe.

I had one once (as the guy who made it described it to me) and it was pretty good.
