Default To our FO: Aqib Talib is a MUST keep

Sanders, CJ, DT.. All three I can see being cut or traded this season. (preferably keeping at least one of the receivers)

But the biggest name that's in question on the squad this year has got to be Aqib Talib.

He's the last of our attitude in the secondary, and let's be real; mimicking his production at CB for the cost will be damn near impossible. Even with Roby doing so well, this team cannot afford to lose Talib. Honestly, even if we get "our guy" at the QB position, weakening our secondary would be a huge mistake. Possibly the nail in our D's coffin.

C'mon JE, wake up and smell the bottom of the AFCW. Letting this man go will be a blow to our D that will likely result in yet another 'position of need' for the next couple years.

CJ I can understand because releasing him frees up somewhere around 4m? I don't like it though.

Still parading the 'Burn John Elway's House Down" wagon in the event Talib is cut or traded. He's the last of our secondary's heart and soul.

We gave up the fourth most passing TD's in the league last year... despite it supposedly being the main strength on our team. I do blame this on Woods and Joseph... too much talent for such sh*t production... but how much worse would it have been without Talib? He was pretty solid all year from what I can remeber. Granted I shut off about every game at halftime for the first time in 30 + years being a fan. SMFH

It makes no sense to get rid of Talib. He's producing at a high level and he's not breaking the bank. Getting rid of him to give that money to a 2nd tier QB isn't going to make this team a contender.

Contract over these next 2 years is a steal for a shutdown shadow corner. Roby moves over but then a massive hole where Roby is.

I agree with you 100%. Heís arguably the second best player on this team and nothing in his play indicates heís on the decline. Keep him!

He looks like he's slowing down a little bit but the mind is still there. He's worth it.

Teams abused Davis, Marshall, Parks, and Stewart. They should be the first positions to address outside of QB and RT. The fact that all the attention is on Talib and that he's presumably gone already is crazy to me. It's some **** GM'ing.

Iím going to preface this by saying I like Talib and hope he is on our team next season. That being said, the best time to trade him is now. Following the model of Belicheat, itís better to trade players while they still hold value rather than waiting too long and getting nothing in return. I could completely understand why the JFE would do it. I would not be happy about it, but from a management prospective, it does makes some sense.

I don't really see the slow down at all. I saw him pick up Tyreek Hill on a crossing pattern this year and he was step for step with him all the way across the field. Hill runs a 4.24. I'm not saying Talib runs that, but on the field speed vs track speed, Talib can still stay with these fast WR's.

Put me down for wanting to keep Talib if it's possible. Find the money, make cuts in other places. I get it that we have a ton of money tied up in that position but you need 2 or 3 dominant CB's in today's NFL.

Love Wolfe... but I would rather see him go than Talib any day. I think I read cutting him would save 7 million. Shelby Harris, Gotsis, Walker, etc can pick up the slack there easier than replacing our #1 CB.

PS - no one is going to trade for Talib when it's assumed we are going to cut him. If we could pick up a 2nd or 3rd round pick for him... maybe... but outright cutting your #1 CB with a manageable contract would be beyond idiotic.

Chris Harris agrees. Oh wait no he doesnít.

Stop pretending like there arenít a holes in every locker room across the league.

Difference is those teams donít have a p***Y HC and can handle loud personalities.

I do not think they can trade him until March 14, 2018. What am I missing?

Iíd like to know why? I donít want to hear this lockerroom loud voice crap.

What is the reasoning? Old? Nope. He doesnít look like champ did near the end. Expensive? Nope. 20M over 2 years is a steal. Depth? Nope. No one to replace Roby if heís moved. Room for Cousins? Nope. They need to land Cousins first and thatís not happening.

No logical reason to get rid of him other than to piss off Harris, and voluntarily be worse on defense.

Wonder if Seattle will release Sherman or trade him? Could be a talib replacement if Talib is sent packing.

2 years $20 million, how about negotiate $10 this year $10 million next year with the $2 million guarantee for 2019. Same money but does get $2 million cap relief this year.

Talib right now is a luxury. Roby is cheaper and cheaper cap wise. They will draft a CB to take over the #3 CB position. This is a cut throat league. Great players in their prime are released to make room for younger and cheaper players. The only exception are QB's. Even then, Brady who just came off a SB MVP was expendable for a younger QB. A move many are saying the Pats will regret in a few years.
