I am probably giving DTV the hook this year. Does anyone know how this Sunday Ticket through Amazon works?

You still need to be a directv customer. It's essentially just an add-on.

Not exactly. Assuming he would have food and drinks at home if he had the ticket, the cost above grocery prices plus time invested in preparing the food should be subtracted from that total and then you can say hes paying that much to watch the games, plus the added value of being around other bronco fans.. if thats something you value

This worked for me. Last year I was a new customer so got it free and my package was something around $50 a month with the Ticket. After a year it kicked up to $90, got my bill today and Sunday ticket activated and went up to $140. Called and she got a discount on my original package and Sunday Ticket for $17 a month so now my bill is the same at $90 with Sunday Ticket. Still a lot and I hardly watch cable, but I am happy

5 national tv games already. Another few that don't compete with the Pats and will definitely be on tv here. If it's anything like last season, there will be MAYBE 4 or 5 games I'd need to go to a bar to watch. Sorry Sunday Ticket. Not happening.

Looking at the VPN avenues and looks like they have gone up in price as well to a little above $200.

I dropped directv and sunday ticket 2 years ago, which was the only reason I had directv.

NFL gamepass now. $100, every game, no commercials, re-claim my Sundays for me and the family, watch the game in the evening at our leisure. An elegant solution for us.

But how will you ever replace the magic of the GDT?

I cancelled and wouldn't let them counter. Then 2 days later they called me back from a call center and gave me my current package (choice), 6 months of HBO free, 3 months of the rest of the movie channels free, sunday ticket max for 2017, and a $200 gift card and it's $43/month with a 1 year contract.

I qualified getting it for free this year. Didn't have to negotiate or anything. I'm not under contract so i can cancel when ever i feel like. Anytime they offer me new equipment i ask if i if i have to re-new my contract. They always say 12-24 months and i decline the new equipment.

honestly, if you don't watch cable $90/mo is super steep. My wife and I cut the cord now we pay $29.99 for high speed internet, and then still have our Netflix/Hulu/Funimation/HBO Now subs (we split with friends so we only pay for hulu) and our bills are now like $45/mo, and we get everything (if not more) than before. Plus you're probs paying for Netflix already anyway!

Just called to see if I could drop ESPN from my package...they said only if I go to lowest tier, and I'd lose most of my channels...I then asked what I could do to lower my bill, had no offers for me so I hung up on him...called back and said I was just disconnected but they were looking into discounts and to see if I qualified to get Sunday ticket for free...in the end...$10 off sports pac, $7 off HBO, $7 off Showtime, $7 off Starz, waived $4.53 regional sports fee and waived $10 advanced receiver DVR for 6 months and received NFL ticket for free...as I have said in the past, if you don't like what they are offering you, try someone else

So with all that off, how much more than $0 is your package than mine?

I got The NFL Ticket for free plus about $30 a month discount to help pay for equpment fees like DVR, HD, etc. This may be the best deal I have gotten from them, and I have been doing this dance for like forever.

The guy that I was talking to was from the Retention Dept., and was was very open when I asked him about getting good deals like this one in the future because like I said, I have to do "the dance" every time this time of the year.

He said it helps when you do not have a current contract with them(I didn't this year) that penalizes you for leaving because they have leverage in that case. Be nice to the person(I am) and don't come off as a jerk because it is ultimately what the employee wants to do, and if you are a jerk, they won't go out of their way for you. Also, get discounts on equipment fees in addition because discounts are discounts.

And lastly, and I have never heard of this one before, nor thought of it, but call after the season and take your NFL Ticket off Auto-Renew. I know it sounds counterintuitive, but he says if you do so you are treated as a new customer to The Ticket, and it may be easier to get it for free.

Got direct TV just last week for this reason.

Free Sunday Ticket and only like $60 a month for 12 months. Then I call and brow beat them into giving me Sunday Ticket for free the next year. Rinse and repeat.
