Whatever Cousins ends up signing for dollars wise by the time the season rolls round he wont be the highest paid player. Brees, Brady, Rodgers, Matt Ryan and maybe Russell Wilson will all have new contracts. Aaron Rodgers, Ryan and Wilson's new deals will be more than Cousins. Brees and Brady will probably take a bit less because of age.

The problem is the likes of Bridgewater, McCarron, Keenum, Bradford and Tyrod Taylor are going to be looking at starting at Brock's 18m per year contract and ending at Alex Smith's 23m per year deal with the Deadskins. When in reality they should be earning between 10m and 18m max and you could offer incentives if they play great. I think when Cousins signs in the first few hours of free agency there is going to be a bit of a stand off with the rest of the QBs because i think teams and the market are going to bring a hard dose of reality to the QBs and their reps. Teams are not going to pay 18m to 22m for a QB in free agency and then draft one of the 5 or 6 QBs in the 1st round. They might pay 10m to 15m max for a second or third tier vet and could then still draft the QBOTF.
