But even if none of that was true I'd still be happy to see Meyer and Ohio State burn.

Ohio State stole from me, so I'd like to see them in the flaming trash heap of history where they belong.

Burn the program to the ground.

I agree, but his contract plays a part in it. If he was making 50K his ass would have been fired. Making the coin he does will give them pause but it will also force the issue and make it more of a public consumption issue.

Iím not firing either of them for a situation like this (based on what we know say far). Iím just saying you canít fire a coach for lying when 1. You canít prove that he is 2. The president (the leader of the United States) himself constantly lies in press conferences/public speaking events. You canít be that hypocritical.

The university is not the entity tasked with punishing the President so that analogy is a poor reason to justify not holding Meyer accountable.

There is more than sufficient circumstantial evidence to show Meyer knew. There are texts showing his wife personally knew and she said she'd tell him. There's no reason to think she wouldn't do so after saying that. This coach also just happened to be making the lowest salary of the whole staff despite being Meyers friend from FLA. That suggests he likely got a financial handslap for this internally but was allowed to keep working.

I agree 100%.

As far as my president analogy is spot on. According to ESPN who reported the allegations, they are saying that Urban is in trouble because he lied about not knowing. My point is that the president has lied about his sexual allegations with the porn star and about his sexual assault taping. Now, I donít believe he should be fired for it but if he isnít held accountable for lying than why should Urban.

The issue for Meyer is didn’t he report knowing of his assistance’s domestic violance history, which violated his contract and OSU’s policy on sexual misconduct. I’m in education and every year I have a whole list of topics including that which I have to go through in “compliance training.” He’s getting canned with cause. He has a bad history with his winning at no expense approach. Florida was full of issues covered up by Tebow’s positive press.

Go Frogs!!
Go Rams!!

Not a Pac-12 game so it doesn't matter much to us unless things get really wild and we start thinking playoffs. Pretty good game last year, I was there in the stands. Triple-team Oliver and protect the ball.

This is literally the worst possible argument you could make. You may not be doing this intentionally, but you're basically suggesting that the moral standard set by the POTUS ought to now be considered the one we use in society to base these kinds of decisions on. In other words, you're allowing the very worst possible behavior to become acceptable as a social norm because the worst human being to every occupy a seat of power in the US has normalized it through his behavior and the behavior of the cowards in Congress who protect him.

This is actually the best argument I can think of why Meyer should be fired if the allegations are true. Meyer is the biggest name in college football coaching. If he's allowed to hide domestic violence issues and lie about it without being terminated, it elevates that as a defacto standard for other programs to look at also doing the same thing. I'm tired of people prioritizing sports over people's lives, especially related to this issue. It's a disgusting commentary on our society that people can allow a woman to be beaten, then lie about it and keep their job if they're making a university money. The last thing we need is for that kind of behavior to be codified as acceptable since the idiot in the WH is moving the moral goalposts.

I don't give a **** if they fire him for eating Froot Loops for breakfast.

I hate Ohio State.

Urb is a fake and a fraud....go peddle your snake oil to some other program.

I knew Jim Tressel was a fraud too....I guess the nickname 'The Senator' was appropriate.

This.

It's irrelevant whether there was any wrongdoing by Ohio State personnel (although in this case there definitely was and on the merits there should be strict punishment to ensure spousal abuse is never tolerated or covered up).

But Ohio State should also burn because they are Ohio State. That alone is sufficient grounds to kneecap the program. To the extent that we can find a objectively good reason for it with supporting evidence in order to create a good pretext is a bonus!

Since it's about domestic abuse I'd lay it along the same lines as Joe Paterno. The ignoring part. I do agree with you on the comparison but that doesn't mean he should not have to follow the rules, both employment wise and morally.

Over/under on number of hours before Urban fakes another heart attack? I’d set the line at 8.

You realize that the basic nature of the profession with regards to politics is to lie?

Urban knew about it, he lied about knowing about it, he did nothing about it and he's making multiple million a year.
No one would care if he was banging a side chick and said he didn't, he overlooked a coach on his staff beating his wife. That's ****ed up.
