"Fearing the political fallout before November's elections, the administration last month quietly increased by billions of dollars the "risk corridor" funds that insurance companies can use to staunch their losses. Yet since premium growth has averaged at least 5% over the past five years, it is unlikely the law's federal subsidies will increase enough to make up the difference in out-of-pocket premium costs. As this happens, lower- and even middle-income consumers will be forced out of the private insurance market." |

More evidence underlining just how much your government really cares about you. The fewer people go to jail, the higher up you know this goes. Although I really doubt this could go any higher than maybe the bureaucratic head of the VA. |

![]() And this is just the VA. How many other government agencies are cooking books, getting bonuses for work not done, with little to no oversight? Thank about it.

![]() Yeah, the VA doing wonderfully. Idiot Krugman probably still thinks it's great. Well, here's socialized medicine for you. A vet with a brain tumor finally gets his appointment. A letter in the mail wanting a prompt response to their desire for "timely health care." Only, his wife had to open the letter because he's not there to see it since he DIED 2 YEARS AGO! And not only that, when she tried to apply for burial benefits for her husband 2 years ago, she was denied. Why? Because he wasn't treated at a VA hospital. Socialized medicine coming to a hospital near you. Shameful to say the least.

![]() ^ It's horrific.
This isn't just a problem with the VA. It's a problem with every single-payer system in the world. That's why even European countries have increasing healthcare privatization. The US Socialist Regressives are chasing after a 60-year old failed model of healthcare. It's an unsustainable, repressive model that is on it's way out. |

![]() As bad as the VA scandals are, private health care has its own issues.
Some years ago, I worked on a project with a major malpractice carrier to create a system to record patient incidents in PA hospitals. It was eye opening. Findings nation wide. Preventable Medical Errors – The Sixth Biggest Killer in America Preventable medical errors kill and seriously injure hundreds of thousands of Americans every year. Any discussion of medical negligence that does not involve preventable medical errors ignores this fundamental problem. And while some interested parties would prefer to focus on doctors’ insurance premiums, health care costs, or alternative compensation systems —anything other than the negligence itself—reducing medical errors is the best way to address all the related problems. Preventing medical errors will lower health care costs, reduce doctors’ insurance premiums, and protect the health and well-being of patients. ![]() The Institute of Medicine’s (IOM) seminal study of preventable medical errors estimated as many as 98,000 people die every year at a cost of $29 billion.1 If the Centers for Disease Control were to include preventable medical errors as a category, these conclusions would make it the sixth leading cause of death in America. 2 Further research has confirmed the extent of medical errors. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) found that there were 181,000 severe injuries attributable to medical negligence in 2003.3 The Institute for Healthcare Improvement estimates there are 15 million incidents of medical harm each year.4 HealthGrades, the nation’s leading healthcare rating organization, found that Medicare patients who experienced a patient-safety incident had a one-in-five chance of dying as a result.5 http://www.justice.org/cps/rde/justice/hs.xsl/8677.htm |

![]() ^ Maybe if doctors didn't have to contend with all the paperwork that's necessary with Medicare/Obamacare they would have more time to spend with their patients. I used to work in a pharmacy, and you wouldn't believe how much more paperwork we had to do starting in 2009 after Obamacare was enacted.
Imagine how simple and effective it would be if private patients paid the doctor directly with mandatory HSA's? Cut out the middleman, and the time/bureaucracy that goes along with it. That's a true private market. |

The Economist recently had a good article about the bureaucracy in US healthcare. One example: Medicare has 140,000 reporting codes, in one instance, there are 8 codes for an injury by moose. ![]() It would be funny if it weren't tragic. |

I agree insurance companies are a major problem too. That's why private insurance in the form of mandatory HSA's is so important. If people had their own money, no one would even want to deal with insurance companies. Cut out ALL the middle men, and watch costs plummet, while quality and efficiency skyrockets. |

![]() Having worked with some hospitals on big cases one thing that I noticed is too many people being paid to not take care of patients.
Hospitals can become like mini govts with lots of waste and cover ups. I'm not saying private healthcare a utopia of great medical coverage, I am saying making it bigger, all under the feds, is going to make it worst. We aren't saying staying in Iraq would have made the region perfect. We are saying it would be better off then what Obama has now. |
